Promises to Keep is a side quest in Final Fantasy 7 (VII) Rebirth. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Promises to Keep Side Mission (Odd Job). It’s also know as the Guard’s Request. It requires you to pursue Gi Spectres around Cosmo Canyon and defeat possessed enemies.
Promises to Keep becomes available after completing ‘Side Quest: From Whence Life Flows‘ in Chapter 10.

Quest Giver: Guard
Requirement: Complete ‘Side Quest: From Whence Life Flows‘ in Cosmo Canyon in Chapter 10, then check the Noticeboard or visit the watchman at the entrance of town.
Reward: Mythical Amulet, Red XIII Relationship Strengthened, 10 Party EXP, Player EXP (scaled to your level)
Mission Info: Hey Nanaki, the survey team came back early – said there’s Gi down in the canyon basin. Come see me as soon as you read this!

Starting Location: Promises to Keep (Guard’s Request)
Track down the Gi
Firstly, head to the northern part of the Cosmo Canyon region to the location just south-west of Activaton Intel 5. You can get there by taking the elevator in Cosmo Canyon Village, from “The Syldra Inn: Noticeboard” fast travel point go up the path where the Weapons Vendor is and turn left to see the elevator.
Approach the cart with the Gi Spectres around it for a cutscene, then defeat the possessed Skeeskees.
Pursue the Gi Specters
Follow the Spectres just north-west of where you are and defeat the possessed Desert Sahagins.

Again, pursue the Spectres west and defeat more Desert Sahagins.
Pursue the Gi Spectres
Pursue the Spectres west and after the cutscene defeat the strong Irasceros enemy. This foe will use Shield and Reflect to make itself immune to physical and magical damage respectively. Use Subversion Materia (Breach Spell) to remove the shield (blue shield icon above the enemy). If it rebuffs itself with a shield, use this spell again. Then it’s vulnerable to damage.
Having Tifa on the team is good here to quickly stagger the enemy, buff Tifa twice with Unbridled Strength, once the enemy is staggered use her 
moves to unleash Rise and Fall > Omnistrike to increase the stagger %. Then quickly use all your team members strongest attacks to deal massive damage during the stagger phase. Repeat and the enemy will go down quickly.
After defeating the Irasceros, a cutscene will happen and the quest ends.
