Monster Hunter World: How Long is the Story?

Monster Hunter World has a very long story mode, and yet the story makes up only a small portion of the game. The story quests go up to 9-star assignments. 9 Stars is the maximum for the campaign.

So how long is the story?

• Minimum: 50-70 Hours (Solo if you are an experienced player, focusing on main quests only, ignoring optional tasks and not spending much time on crafting. Also, this time assumes you get through the last bosses perfectly or have someone carrying you)
• Average: 71-100 Hours (Solo or in a Group, with medium focus on exploration and side activities. If you play solo or you’re new to Monster Hunter you may have trouble with the last 5 bosses and those alone could take you 20 hours to defeat)
• Completionist: 101-150 Hours (If you want to take it all in and explore every optional task and craft every armor it will take you probably 120 hours or more to do everything within the story once).

Most players will take 80 hours to complete the story.

You will finish the story at roughly Hunter Rank 16. Keep in mind this goes up to Rank 100, just to give you an idea how much the story accounts for (only 16% progress towards that goal).

After the story the grind begins. There is also an arena mode where you can battle for the fastest time on the leaderboards to slay a monster. There’s a ton to do in Monster Hunter World, beating the story is not the end of it!
