Monster Hunter World: How to Use Capture Net

January 27, 2018 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

In Monster Hunter World you may notice an item called “Capture Net” in your inventory. This is a fixed item that remains without throughout the game.

What is the Capture Net used for?

You can use it to capture small pets. Those are all tiny animals roaming around the open world. From hares to ants to birds. Everything that’s tiny can be captured.

How to Activate Capture Net

Select it in your item wheel (press :left: / :right: ). Then press :square: to equip and :l2: / :r2: to aim and shoot. You must be aiming at a small animal. They are literally everywhere, on each map in the game. Most animals will run when they see you, so stay crouched when approaching them (press :x: while standing still to sneak).

The Capture Net can be used infinitely – as many times as you wish. You don’t have to craft ammo for it or anything. When you’re aiming it at a potential catch it the recticle will turn from white to orange. You can even catch butterflies and other tiny things. Use it on everything that moves. Monsters cannot be captured with it, however.

What to do with the Pets

Any small animals you capture can be placed as pets in your home in Astera. Enter your home and talk to the housekeeper. From here you can select what pets to place in your home. This will make your home prettier. Some of the pets are also needed for silver trophies & achievements (4 in total). So if you’re going for the Platinum Trophy you’ll have to catch some of them.
