Objective: Find and Save the Carpenter’s Brother From the Pirates
You might spot Tekton on your way by the Isle of Thisvi, standing on the deck of his beached ship. He wants you to save his brother from the pirates that forced his ship to run aground. Tekton says that he will join your crew if you save him. Return to your ship and follow the waypoint to the aptly named Pirate Island just off the coast of Mount Helikon in Boeotia. Carefully eliminate all the pirates with assassinations and well placed bow shots. Alerting the enemies here can be dangerous, as there is nowhere to run but the sea. Once they are all taken care of, open the prisoner’s cage and carry him to the waypoint and safety away from the camp.
Objective: Report to the Carpenter
Alas you were too late to save him. Report your abject failure back to the carpenter. Break it to him gently. Luckily, he will still join your crew. Mission complete.

This side mission has glitched for me. When I got to the island the pirates were already attacking the brother in his cage. Now when I go to pick him up it won’t allow me. I’ve tried loaded a different save and same thing. Even tried resetting my console.

Same thing happened for me.. I can’t even dock at the island.

Mack: You cannot dock at the island. You have to leave the command of your ship and swim to the boat with the carpenter or swim to the pirate island.
Oodamachisengan: Try unmasking the quest and completing another quest, then go back to this one and try again.

Yeah this is cr*p! i got on the island killed all the knobs now i got the dude out the cage and picked him up but nothing happens put him on little boat and tried getting on ship with his bro but cant get him on – f*ing total bull-ship lol

You have to bring the dying brother to a certain spot on the pirate island. You cannot get him on your boat, as he does on the island. There is no possible way to get him on your ship. You have to fast travel to your ship to report to the brother, letting him know you failed to save his brother. I tried getting him to the boat as well.

I got the brother off the island, and rode him around on the tiny boat. That didnt work, so i brought my ship to pirate island, rescued him again and when i carried him out in the surf, i got a prompt to teleport to the ship. I did that and the brother is sitting on the ship.
At this time i dont see any prompt of what port to take him to, so i landed at Kreusis, the brother asked me “Any idea of when we will get there..”
Not sure now where to go lol

You have to carry the released brother to a destination location marked on the map on the island. A cut scene begins where the brother dies from his wounds. Return to the ship and explain to Telkron that the brother died. The brother is in grief but Kassandra/Alexios tells hin in can bury his sorrow by honoring his promised and joining the crew. It works

mission is stupid, dockets ship at nearby harbour then got a small boat and took him to harbour and onto my ship, sigh missed the marker and I guess he has to die even though he was next to his brother for ages
