Assassin’s Creed Shadows How to Switch Characters

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows you can play as two characters: Naoe the female Assassin, or Yasuke the male Samurai.

First, you must finish Act 1 of the story to unlock Yasuke as a playable character. Plan in around 6 hours for this if focusing on only the story. After this you can switch characters in two ways:

• Scroll over a fast travel point and hold Square-Button (PS5) / X-Button (Xbox)
• Open the Inventory and hold Square-Button (PS5) / X-Button (Xbox) – this is the preferred method as it will respawn you where you are without needing to walk all the way back from a fast travel point.

Note that some quests can only be played as one of the two characters. During certain quest sections you will be locked into playing one character. In the open world you can switch between them at any point after Act 1.
