The Tale of Genin is an optional quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Tale of Genin mission.

- Requirement: Available immediately after completing the quest Letter from Katsuhime
- Recommended Level: 38
- Reward: 1000 EXP
- Quest Description: With the location of Yamashiro’s rice supply in hand, Naoe and Gennojo sneak into Nijo Palace.
Talk to Gennojo
You can track this quest from the Objectives Board. Scroll to the League group and select the quest underneath Gennojo.
Find Katsuhime in the small town of Kumagawa Juku, east of Obama in the Wakasa region.
Find signs of struggle
The first sign is the door right in front of you.
The second sign is the fence behind you.
The third is a little further north, just across the bridge.
Kill the pirates
Follow Katsuhime over to the hut across the field. Frankly, you don’t need to do anything there. Katsuhime takes them all out handedly with her teppo.
Check on Sada
Interact with the crying woman standing by the campfire.
A dialogue choice appears:
- [I need your help.]
- [I do enjoy your company.] – Romance
These choices create the same result in the quest, but choosing “I do enjoy your company” contributes to Katsuhime’s fondness for you.
