Starting Location: Live Bait
Talk to Yanna
On the road outside Coen’s House, you’ll see that your brother and sisters have not gone far. Talk to Yanna and she’ll say that she hasn’t left yet because she’s worried about wolves on the way to the stream. You will be given an option of offering your help or saying that you have to get the herbs for your mother first. If you offer help, they will immediately set off and you are given the first objective “Walk your siblings to the river”. If you say that you have to get the herbs first, you’ll get the objective “Return to your siblings”. If you move too far away from them, they will set off without you and your objective will change to “Meet your siblings by the river”. Returning to them later will skip you all the way to the “Bait the hooks with worms” objective, missing some background information about the mines but otherwise having no impact on the outcome of the quest.
Walk Your Siblings to the River
Assuming you’ve immediately jumped at the chance to help your siblings, Yanna will take off with your younger brother and sister in tow, headed down to the fishing spot by the river. Along the way Lunka and Mirto will start to complain about the journey. You now have the option of calming them down by playing tag with them but it will take 1 additional time segment, and there doesn’t seem to be a difference in the result.
Catch Mirto / Catch Lunka (Optional, 1 Time Segment)
If you do decide to play tag, you’ll have to run after your brother and sister and when you’re close enough to see the prompt, press
/
to tag them. Once you’ve caught them both there will be a short cinematic, and then you’ll resume the journey to the fishing spot.
Look For the Fishing Rods Using Focus Mode
When you reach the river, Yanna will tell you that your father had hidden the fishing rods nearby and asks you to find them. Use Focus Mode using
/
which desaturates the color of the background slightly and highlights any important items that you can interact with. Quest items will be highlighted in gold, with other interactive items highlighted in white. In Focus Mode, you’ll see that the fishing rods are under a bush nearby. Run over and pick them up.
Set Up the Fishing Rods by the River
Along the bank are four piles of rock and mud. Approach them and press
/
to place a rod at each location.
Bait the Hooks With Worms (1 Time Segment)
NOTE: If you’d previously told Yanna that you couldn’t help and left the area, this is where you’ll pick up the quest.
Interacting with the rods will allow you to “Set up Bait”, and it is here that you actually spend the Time Segment.
Coen will show his siblings how to bait a hook, while talk turns to the problems in the family. While Coen tries to discuss the delicate topic, he hears one of Brencis’s soldiers approaching. He says that Coen’s father, Pieter, is usually the one fishing and starts pressing you on where he is. Choose whatever responses you prefer. He will start to threaten your siblings, causing responses to appear that have a sword icon at their end. Choosing any of these options will cause the conversation to end and start a fight with the soldier. If you keep your cool, you will skip the fight with the soldier and move right to the conversation with the Uriash.
Defeat the Soldier (Optional)
If you choose to fight the soldier, you will face off in a brief fight that will end when either one of you is seriously injured. At this point an Uriash appears and puts a stop to the fight.
The rest of the conversation will play out the same way, with the Uriash putting the soldier back in his place, and telling you to warn your father to stay in line. Brencis has ordered the Uriash to kill Pieter, but he does not want to do so. He reminds you to come to the church at sundown for the Blood Mass, then takes the soldier and departs, bringing the mission to a close.
