Starting Location: A Hero’s End
This quest is started from the same location as you complete In the Name of the Father. You need to first obtain the Ancient Key which is either picked up from Florin’s body if you kill him which immediately starts the quest, or from a barrel on the left side of the room.
You can then use the key on the doorway on the left, which will trigger the quest to start if you picked the key up from the barrel.
BEFORE going into the ruins, you should make sure that you have the Stone Key that is acquired from the Cathedral Treasury.
To enter the treasury, you first need to enter the large cathedral in Svartrau City. At night you can climb to the cathedral roof and drop down the open tower from the roof. Then on the ground floor in the north corner is a storage room where there is a book on the table you can inspect. On the back you can obtain the Treasury Key item.
You then need to go to the treasury building, which is the square building on the north side of the courtyard outside the cathedral.
In the treasury building, inspect the bookshelf in the first room, which will then allow you to push it out of the way revealing a ladder underground.
In the main room on the left, you can pick up the Stone Key from a ledge.
Then you can get back to the ruins where Father Florin was located by going through the balcony near the west gate again.
Explore the ancient ruins
You can start making your way into the ruins. On the ground in the first room you can pick up a map, which shows the layout of this area.
Squeeze through the crack in the doorway ahead, then you can inspect the wall above the sarcophagus to trigger the next objective.
Find the ancient warrior’s armour
The main goal in the area is to obtain the legendary armour hidden in the ruins.
First, go down the left hallway and then left again. In this room you can crouch through a hole into another room.
In this room there is a hole in the ground, drop into it to reach a lower cave area.
Follow the path here to reach a room with a bunch of kobolds.
Defeat them, then inspect the stone chest located in the room where they were.
You are able to use the Stone Key you should have acquired earlier to open the chest, which allows you to obtain the Legendary Shortsword The Hand of Fate.
Squeeze through the crack beside the chest, then drop down the hole where there is a skeleton lit up with moths. Loot it to obtain the Old Key, which will allow you through the door at the top of the ladder.
Immediately in the room you will need to defeat a Fallen Witch miniboss to progress.
After it is dealt with, go down the WEST path. The east leads back to the room where you dropped down earlier. Continue down the west path dealing with any enemies in your way. You will reach an intersection, where you can follow the stairs down toward the glowing area.
In this room you will have to defeat another miniboss. Other enemies will start appearing, but if you focus on the miniboss the other enemies will automatically die at the same time it does.
In this room you can loot the coffin at the back, where you can obtain the Legendary Ancient Hero’s Armour.
Looting the armour completes the quest. To exit the area, go through the crack on the right side of the room, and you can loot the Simple Key off the body on the ground. This opens the door at the top of the stairway leading to the first room in the ruins where you inspected the wall. You can then take the stairs back up to the room where Father Florin was located.
This finishes A Hero’s End side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
