Starting Location: Our Rotten Roots
Give Lacra a day
After completing Hive and Seek, you will need to wait at least one full in-game day (16 time segments) before you can continue this quest.
Meet Lacra in the fort at night
Meet Lacra in the fort, and she’ll have some immediate dialogue for you. Whichever order you ask for the news doesn’t matter.
When you are ready to progress, you can tell Lacra and you’ll be committing 4 time segments immediately for the rest of the quest.
Search for Isbrand’s memories
Your main goal throughout this area is progressing through the linear sections to reach the tornadoes at the end, which will reveal more of Isbrand’s memories.
Pass the gate
First, make your way forward through the stone gate.
Search for the first of Isbrand’s memories
In this first area you need to use Phaseshift and Shadowstep to jump between the walls and progress across (your stamina is unlimited while in Anachora so you can’t fall off walls by moving around). Make a quicksave before each platforming section, because if you accidentally fall off, the game will put you back at the last autosave, which is normally the last time you were in a dialogue interaction.
After the first group of phantoms you can drop to the lower area to defeat some enemies and pick up some items if you want, but the way to progress is up the floating stones in the middle of the area.
On the next platform you will start having ghost soldiers appear that you have to defeat to progress.
After defeating them continue forward to the building on the other side and go through the tunnel.
Defeat the next group of enemies then proceed up the wall toward the tornado.
After a couple more groups of enemies and some more walls to platform up, you will reach the platform with the tornado. Walk directly into the center of it to progress.
Search for the second memory
After the scene, you will be in a new area. Ride the wall down and progress into the ruins in front of you.
Continue through the ruins, and teleport across to the platform with the blue lanterns beside a doorway.
Progress across the series of broken platforms to reach the exterior of the mansion.
When you enter the courtyard a large group of enemies with some stronger soldiers will appear. Defeat them all to continue.
Progress back outside and make your way across the next set of platforms to reach the next building.
Defeat the creatures
When you reach the exterior of the building a miniboss will spawn. It attacks the same as the other supernatural vidmo (witch) enemies, just with more health.
Enter the sandstorm
After all the enemies are defeated, progress through the door to enter the next memory.
Search for more of Isbrand’s memories
In the next area, there is a split in the path. Lacra wants you to go to the right which is the story path, but you do have the option of going to the left.
Lacra will try to talk you out of it and going this way is optional, but it provides more background on Lacra and Brencis if you want it. There is no negative consequences for going through with the optional path.
(Optional) Enter the sandstorm alone
Lacra will leave you by yourself, so you need to go to the memory alone. Progress and defeat the next group of enemies, then Clawride down the very long wall to the lower area.
Continue progressing along the path until you reach the sandstorm to view the optional memory.
Search for the last memory
After either viewing the optional memory or just going the direction Lacra suggested, you will be in a town area. Progress through the doorway with the white fires on either side of it, then into the building immediately on the right a torch on the ground where Lacra is standing.
If you viewed the optional memory you can also speak with Lacra about it, the dialogue choice here doesn’t matter.
Go through the door in the house and drop down, in the lower area you will have more enemies to defeat as you progress through the linear ruins.
Enter the sandstorm with Lacra
When you reach the room with the sandstorm, you are aiming to reach the platform in the bottom middle, which you can do by going down the platforms around the edges of the room.
Defeat the echo of Isbrand
After the next memory, you will have to fight Isbrand, The Broken Shade. He fights similar to murohns or other vampires, but doesn’t have any unique attacks of his own.
After he is defeated, you have the option of inviting in Isbrand. All this does is he will sometimes talk to you (in your head) for the rest of the game. This doesn’t have any major story repercussions, and Isbrand is much less talkative than Ambrus or Bakir if you decided to invite them in already, so whether you do is entirely up to you.
After leaving Anachora you have some more conversation with Lacra, then complete the quest.
This finishes Our Rotten Roots side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
