A Monk and a Saint is a side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the A Monk and a Saint side mission.

- Questline: Night Terrors > A Monk and a Saint > Forge It Anew
- Quest Description: St. Mihai’s crypt is not marked on the cathedral plans. Perhaps you should search the courtyard.

Starting Location: A Monk and a Saint
Automatically starts upon completing Night Terrors.
Go to Svartrau Cathedral
In the cave where you went for Night Terrors, defeat the Kobold enemies and use Focus Mode (L2/LT) to see a yellow highlighted stone you can push out of the way. This opens the exit.
Search for Saint Mihai’s symbol on cathedral grounds / Search the courtyard
As soon as you return outside to the courtyard on the north side of the cathedral, you will see 5 graves in Focus Mode (L2/LT). This objective is a bit confusing because Coen can’t open any of the graves yet, and you are given a big search area without exact quest markers. First, Coen must learn which symbol belongs to Mihai before he can open the grave.
What you actually have to do is enter the cathedral through the open tower on the rooftop (all the doors are locked so this is the only way in). Use the shadowstep teleport ability to climb up the walls at night, then clawride down the tower.
When entering the cathedral you will automatically be prompted to inspect the ceiling, altar, and a book.
Investigate the cathedral from the scaffolding
Inside the cathedral go up the left scaffolding (use Shadowstep to teleport up). The correct fresco is on the last scaffold on the left. Look at the book on the scaffold to get the “inspect” prompt.
The symbol is displayed on Mihai’s armor in the fresco.
Now Coen will be able to recognize the correct symbol on the grave.
Enter the crypt
Return to the 5 graves in the courtyard north of the cathedral. The correct grave is the 2nd from the right.
Inspect the symbol on it, then Coen will automatically open the grave to reveal an underground entrance.
Explore the crypt
Go down into the crypt, enter the first door on the left. Inspect the left wall where the noise is coming from, it will be highlighted yellow in Focus Mode.
Coen will dig open the wall, and you find Saint Mihai. The noises have been coming from him, trapped inside the wall.
Defeat Saint Mihai
This starts the boss fight against “Mihai, Patron of the Cathedral“. He uses regular sword attacks but has quite a lot of health. Level 25+ is recommended for this fight.
When you’ve defeated him, you get two timed dialogue choices, but it doesn’t matter what you pick. You will always get Broken Sword of St. Mihai, and he will tell you to seek out the uriashi blacksmith to reforge his sword.
In the boss room also loot the two quest items “Broken Chains” and “Worn Sheath“, they will be highlighted yellow in Focus Mode.
To reforge St. Mihai’s sword for the 
Arbiter’s Blade trophy/achievement, you’ll need to finish the questline Forge it Anew.
This finishes A Monk and a Saint side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
