The Betrayers is a side quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Betrayers mission including The Betrayers member locations. There are 7 members of The Betrayers total which you must defeat as part of the quest.

- Reward: 5500 EXP, Hori Hidemasa’s Helmet (Epic Helmet), Gold (Crafting material)
- Quest Description: Oba Nobunaga was not brought down by a mere powerful foe, but by the disloyalty of those he trusted. Some acted against him, others simply let it happen. All share in the guilt.
Assassinate the traitors
Speak to Hori Hidemasa identified by the “!” icon at Omi > Mouth of Seta > Miidera.
To initiate this quest, you must play as Yasuke.
Right away, Hori Hidemasa presents a dialogue choice:
- [Things were less complicated then.]
- [We can’t live in the past.]
Both options result in the same outcome. Choose whichever you like better.
At the end of the conversation, you choose to play either as Yasuke or Naoe. Choose whichever gameplay style you prefer. The quicker option is Naoe, since she can traverse obstacles quickly and assassinate efficiently.
Betrayers Member 1: Fujichika Nakayama
Location: Izumi Settsu > Takatsuki > Takatsuki Castle
Rewards: 2,000 XP, 2 Mastery Points, Letter to Fujichika Nakayama [Quest Item], III-Fated String Epic Bow, 300 Mon
Find Fujichika Nakayama on the second floor of the viewpoint tower. He sits inside an enclosed room.
You can also sneak into this room from the outside. It’s the only floor on the viewpoint tower that has windows you can enter.
Betrayers Member 2: Sato Katsubei
Location: Yamashiro > Yamazaki > Yamazaki Castle
Rewards: 2000 EXP, Damage on Afflicted Enemies (Engraving), Letter to Sato Katsubei (quest item), 320 Mon
Find Sato Katsubei in the northeast end of the Yamazaki Castle.
Find this point on the outside of the castle. Climb over the wall.
Sato Katsubei is inside the building in front of you.
Sneak in and assassinate the one guard in the hallway. From there, get underneath the grapple point, whistle, then use the grapple point. Sato Katsubei steps out of the room and walks underneath you. Assassinate him from there.
You receive the Letter to Sato Katsubei automatically. This reveals the location of Endo Tomoyasu.
Betrayers Member 3: Endo Tomoyasu
Location: Kii > Koyasaon
Rewards: 2000 EXP, 360 Mon
Find Endo Tomoyasu just east of the Kongobuji Temple in Koyasan.
Approach his body to start a cutscene.
Betrayers Member 4: Sato Genta
Speak to Hori Hidemasa back at Omi > Mouth of Seta > Miidera. Just like before, you must play as Yasuke to speak to him. Speaking to Hori Hidemasa reveals the remaining four members.
Location: Omi > Azuchi > Military Harbor
Rewards: 2000 EXP
Sato Genta stands on the dock in the Military Harbor. There’s no good way to assassinate him without being spotted, so bear that in mind.
Betrayers Member 5: Itakura Shigezo
Location: Harima > Himeji > Himeji Castle
Rewards: 2200 EXP, 2 Mastery Points, Samurai Daimyo Armor (Epic Armor), Adrenaline with Backstab (engraving), 320 Mon
Itakura Shigezo stands on a porch just inside the southwest corner of Himeji Castle.
A lot of people stand by him, but only two of them are hostile. Approach from the south and it’s easy to assassinate him before you get noticed.
Betrayers Member 6: Usami Yoshiko
Location: Izumi Settsu > Katano > Katano Castle
Rewards: 2200 EXP, 2 Mastery Points, 275 Mon
Find this house just west of the Katano Castle.
Head into the house and speak to Usami Yoshiko.
You can choose to kill her or let her go:
- [Corruption carries a price.] – Kill
- [Leave while you can.] – Let her go
The only thing that changes with these choices is how Usami Yoshika shows up on the Objectives Board.
Betrayers Member 7: Masatoshi Nakahara
Location: Tamba > Kameyama > Kameyama Castle
Rewards: 2200 EXP, 2 Mastery Points,
Approach the Kameyama Castle from the northwest. Find this location and climb up the wall.
He is surrounded by four enemies. If you get there fast enough, you can assassinate him before getting noticed, but it requires quick execution.
Return to Hori Hidemasa
Head back to Hori Hidemasa at Omi > Mouth of Seta > Miidera.
You must be Yasuke to interact with Hori Hidemasa. This prompts a dialogue option:
- [I am the grateful one.]
- [Meeting you was my reward.] – Romance
The only change here is a little extra cutscene between Yasuke and Hori Hidemasa if you choose “Meeting you was my reward.”
This finishes The Betrayers in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
