Assassin’s Creed Shadows The Yokai Walkthrough

The Yokai is a side quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Yokai mission including The Yokai member locations. There are 6 members of the Yokai total which you must defeat as part of the quest.

• Region: Yamashiro
• Questboard Category: People of Yamashiro > Mamushi > The Yokai
• Quest Giver: Mamushi at Nyoji Daiji Temple
• Requirement: Becomes available during Act 2
• Recommended Level: 41
• Reward: 5500 XP, 2 Skills: Naoe skill “Critical Insight”, Yasuke skill “Level-Headed”
• Quest Description: Rumors of yokai plague these lands. A monk-turned-demon-hunter needs help to uncover the truth of these monstrous tales.

Find the dead body

This quest can be found by finding the “!” icon in Harima > Engyoji, becomes available during Act 2.

Speak to Mamushi to start the quest.

He poses to you a dialogue option:

• [I believe in yokai.]
• [I don’t believe in yokai.]
• [I’m not sure.]

The choice doesn’t change anything. Pick whichever you like.

Face the Yokai

The Yokai group now appears on the Objectives Board.

Keep this in mind when dealing with the Yokai:

• If it’s the winter season, start with Yuki Onna, who can only be found in the winter.
• If it’s the summer or fall season, start with Suika no Bakemono.
• If it’s nighttime, go after Oshiroi Baba and Kappa. These two only appear at night.
• There’s no way to move time forward or change seasons outside of waiting or progressing the game. Doing this quest in parts while doing other things is more efficient than waiting for the in-game clock to turn.

Yokai 1: Daitengu

The daitengu fanatic is found at Arima Onsen in Harima ? Kakogawa Estuary.

He’s out there on his own, but you’ll know you found him when you find someone with two flags on his back.

Yokai 2: Taka Nyudo

Head to Tamba > The Silver Lands and find Taka Nyudo at the Kabasaka Village.

He’s holding people hostage in a garden.

Yokai 3: Kappa

Kappa is only found at night.

Find Kappa east of the Haunted Tatarigami Village in Yamashiro > Genbu Highlands

Note that you cannot just wait at her spawn point until nighttime. If you stand here until nighttime, then you need to use the viewpoint at the Kuramadera Temple to make two green-colored children appear.

Follow the kappa

The two green children lead you up to the Haunted Tatarigami Village.

Kill all the bandits

Take out the 4 enemies when you reach the village.

Talk to the kappa

Speak to the two children, now sitting at the cliff edge.

Yokai 4: Oshiroi Baba

Oshiroi Baba only appears at night.

Find Oshiroi Baba east of your Hideout in Izumi Settsu > Nara Heartland.

Yokai 5: Suika no Bakemono

Suika no Bakemono only appears during the summer or fall seasons.

Find the Suika no Bakemono at the Suika Lands in Izumi Settsu > Yawata Plains.

You find Suika no Bakemono and Makuwauri no Bakemono, wearing watermelons on their heads. Talk to the two men.

They present you with a dialogue option:

• [I prefer the suika.]
• [I prefer the makuwauri.]

If you choose “I prefer the suika,” then you fight Makuwauri no Bakemono. Conversely, if you choose “I prefer the makuwauri,” then you fight Suika no Bakemono.

Yokai 6: Yuki Onna

Yuki Onna only appears during the winter season.

 

You can assassinate her where she stands, but you can also follow her into the cave behind her.

However, doing so changes nothing. You still end up killing her no matter what.

Return to Mamushi

Head back to Mamushi. Enter the tower to trigger a cutscene.

Defeat Ao Andon

A horned woman attacks you. Take her down.

This finishes The Yokai in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
