Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Reckoning Walkthrough

February 3, 2025 by PowerPyx 10 Comments

Reckoning is the 30th main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Reckoning main story quest.

The only main objective of this quest is to find the horses. This is technically a 2-minute quest if you run past the enemy camp and go straight to the stables south of Suchdol. However, there are some very important and highly missable side tasks here that you should do first. If you find Markwart von Aulitz you can choose to kill him to avenge your parents’ death. If you find Samuel you get to rescue him and kill the traitor Brabant. If you don’t rescue Samuel he’ll get hanged and you bury him during the last story quest. You should remain in stealth at all times, there are many soldiers here and if you get spotted you will have a difficult time.

[MISSABLE] Face to Face Trophy/Achievement (Meet Markvart von Aulitz)

[MISSABLE] Face to Face trophy (finally met Markvart von Aulitz): You find Markvart in the tavern in the middle of town. It’s heavily guarded. You’ll want to sneak there stealthily through the houses in the north and the barn in the east of the search area. The door has a very hard lock but you can pickpocket the keys from the guard sitting in front of the door:

The trophy unlocks immediately when you enter the tavern and see a cutscene of Markvart. Afterward you can decide if/how you want to kill. If you don’t kill him now, he will bleed out from his crossbow wound and you find his dead body in the final story quest. If you kill him, you won’t need to find his body in the final quest.

Find out where Sam is (Optional) / Talk to Sam (Optional)

Samuel is in the south of Suchdol. The only entrance is from within the enemy camp, opposite the tavern. You can’t access it from outside.

There will be a single guard in front of the barn. It’s best to stealth-kill him because you’ll need to carry Sam to the horses afterward. You can headshot him with a bow/crossbow.

Climb up the ladder on the side of the barn. Make a save before dropping down the barn. When you drop down it starts a fight against Brabant. He’s a skilled swordfighter. He has no head protection so you can headshot him with a bow/crossbow for an instakill. However, then you won’t get to talk to him. If you beat him in a duel he’ll try to convince you to let him go. If you let him go he’ll immediately call out for the guards and you’ll have to kill him regardless. It’s better to avoid the trouble and kill him immediately.

Untie Sam and talk to him. He’s too wounded to walk. You can pick up his body and carry him to the horses. Make a manual save and explore the route to the stables before you carry him.

Exit to the street from where you came. Facing the street, turn left (north/northwest). Enter the first yard on the left, there’s a single guard. Can headshot him or bypass him by entering the next yard and lockpicking an easy door. On the left side of this yard are bushes you can walk through:

This leads out of the camp. From here you can walk straight to the stables, see the next objective.

Find a horse and get help

The stables are in the southwest of the search area. Not far from where you found Samuel:

Interact with a horse there to end the mission. You can choose to leave with Samuel (if you carried him there), or go alone. If you leave Samuel behind he gets hanged and you find his dead body in the final quest. If you leave with him he will be alive at the end of the game.

This finishes Reckoning main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

I sat around waiting to pick pocket the guard infant off the inn for a minute, just be patient, I was literally in the middle of complaining that my game didn’t have that guard until I looked up and saw him. My Henry is bad at thieving but I was still able to do it with a strong quick finger potion…

If you still have the Waffenrock from the Main Quest The Lion’s Den, then the Guards wont stop you or you dont have to sneak. Henry even comments on this.
There is one Guard who will stop you but stay quiet and be glad if you didnt burn Maleshov down.

or there is a chest at the right side near the pond/laundry spot, the guards will be talking about it and we can eavesdrop

Or just kill and take someone’s uniform or find one in a chest

Couple of corrections (hope you read them):
    * From what I gather, for a better chance of the “good ending”, you should spare Markvart von Aulitz and Brabant
    * To have Sam survive, make sure to get him out of there. He will be there at the end and it’s a better “good ending” choice
    * To Romance Katherine, make sure to say goodbye to her and choose the heart icon. I don’t know about Capon, but it seems one cancels the other

Why do you say spare them?

I can second this, If you spare them both, you get a more “positive” ending. So glad I spared them both and discovered the better ending.
It’s a worse ending if you kill them both or 1 of them.

If you just kill a guard put his gear on you can walk around….if anyone talks to you …don’t ignore…talk to them back in reply format but keep walking, after you pick Sam up walk out like nothing is wrong …they will ask you 3 times, each time say Sam is dead , your burring him outside the camp so no diseases….then the frenhman beat him to death after that get a horse and boom no hiding …..also I put my helmet faceplate down and was so close to them I could pickpocket and they didn’t notice me so enjoy…beware around von bald guy …that area is restricted
