Under a Straw Hat is a side task in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Under the Straw Hat side task.

- Quest Description: Work in the vineyard is hard and grueling, mostly taking place in the scorching summer and for meager pay. Not for the faint-hearted. But it gives me the opportunity to clear my mind and explore the places where the drink of kings is born.
Objectives:
- Talk to Jerome the caretaker
- Work in the monastery vineyard
- Go and collect your wage
Starting Location: Under the Straw Hat
This task is started automatically by completing the objective Get hired at the vineyard during the side quest In Vino Veritas. You cannot get hired at the vineyard at any other time.
Talk to Jerome the caretaker
Once you have been hired, head inside the vineyard and speak with Jerome to find out about work.
If you show up in the evening Jerome will suggest you wait until morning to work, and shows you a location to sleep.
Work in the monastery vineyard
In the morning from 6:00 you will need to work in the vineyard. This involves picking the plants that grows in between the rows of vines.
As well as picking up the sacks you see at the ends of the rows, and carrying them back to the spot beside the hut where you can sleep. There are three little fenced areas in the west part of the vineyard you can pick up sacks from.
If you are working on In Vino Veritas this is the best time to complete the two objectives, as the interior of the central building doesn’t count as a private area anymore. only the two areas still count as trespassing but they are easier to reach as the person who always hangs out in the kitchen won’t bother you for being in a private area.
You are free to spend the entire 12 in-game hours picking weeds and carrying sacks, but if you want to do just enough work to count for the completion of the task then you can carry a sack, then skip one hour in-game, repeat until around 17:00. You don’t want to skip past 18:00 when the work day ends, or Jerome gets mad which may fail the task.
Go and collect your wage
However much work you’ve done at 18:00 the objective will change and you will need to speak with Jerome for your wages. If you didn’t do enough work you will instantly fail the task, but if you did enough you will be paid for your day of work.

I carried more than one sack per hour and i picked a bunch of weeds yet the quest still failed? This is why I hate quests that don’t tell you exactly what they want. I did far more than what the guide said and it still failed 🙁 guess I’ll reload and follow the guide exactly, 1 sack per hour.

ok this is just ridiculous, instead of trying to do more than what he said I did exactly as the guide said, I dropped off one sack, went to another, waited an hour then dropped that one off, found another waited etc etc, yet this guy STILL says i didnt do enough, it makes no sense at all, its just unreasonable.

I ended up finishing it in the end, it turns out there was a whole other section of vinyard that i was missing that had 2 extra sacks, and to be super safe i did the whole 12 hours without skipping any time, i probably hauled 30+ sacks. Not having marked out areas in which the quest is active greatly hinders this quest.

This is actually missable.. if you get monastery’s secret (sulfur wood) for In Vino Veritas you’re skipping this quest.

I think this quest is not possible if you go to the vineyard in the middle of the day. I started this quest at 13:00 and picked up 3 sacks, returned them and waited 1 hour, but non of them respawned. Waited another hour and 2 of them did so I did those 2 with time around 15:30, then I did two 1 hour skips, but non of the sacks respawned. After that I was told to return to Jerome for my wage, but he told me I did nothing and failed the task. This quest is awful!!

To complete the quest you will need to collect about 300 weeds and bring approximately 15 sacks. Sacks spawn in the same places. I accurately identified 4 places and constantly ran to check them for sacks. In the end, I worked without rewinding all day (from 6 to 18) and exceeded the plan, for which I received not 5, but 15 groschen.

I did the skipping method but it didn’t work. However the whole 12 hour shift carrying sacks did the trick, only carrying, I haven’t picked up a single weed.
