Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 The Thieves’ Code Walkthrough

February 3, 2025 by Gage 4 Comments

The Thieves’ Code is a side task in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Thieves’ Code side task.

  • Starting Location: Kuttenberg Region > Kuttenberg City > Hole in the Wall Tavern
  • Quest Giver: Chenyek
  • Requirement: Complete Feast for the Poor side quest
  • Reward: 150 x Groschen (if you let Knuckles copy the symbols), 100 x Groschen (if you let Chenyek copy the symbols)
  • Quest Type: Task
  • Questline: Feast for the Poor > (Civic Duty) > The Thieves’ Code > (Beyond the Grave > The German’s Treasure) > The Spark
  • Quest Description: There are some thieves’ symbols on the houses in Kuttenberg. It would be great to learn what they mean!

Objectives:

  1. Tell Knuckles about the task (Optional)
  2. Go to Hynek’s house
  3. Find out from Hog what happened
  4. Search Hynek’s corpse
  5. Read the parchment with the riddle
  6. Talk to Hog again
  7. Find the old thieves’ hideout
  8. Search the hideout and find the thieves’ symbols
  9. Return to Chenyek and let him copy the symbols/Let Knuckles copy the symbols

Starting Location: The Thieves’ Code

To start this quest, speak with Chenyek at the Hole in the Wall tavern in Kuttenberg city after you have completed Feast for the Poor and ask for more work.

Tell Knuckles about the task (Optional)

Chenyek wants you to learn about what the symbols around the city are for, and gives you to the location of Hynek’s house who was in the old gang. Before leaving, you have the option to speak with Knuckles about the task. He wants you to only tell him about the symbols after you find out what they mean. You can speak with him here and say what you want, then make up your mind at the end of the quest.

Go to Hynek’s house

Now head to Hynek’s house, which is located on the north side of Kuttenberg directly beside the Kolin Gate fast travel point. Head inside the front door and into the room on the left.

Find out from Hog what happened

When you enter you can find Hog standing over Hynek’s body. Speak with him to ask what happened.

Search Hynek’s corpse

Hog explains how Hynek “fell”, and you then need to search him and pick up the Hynek’s letter document.

Read the parchment with the riddle

Go into your inventory and read the letter.

Talk to Hog again

Speak with Hog again after reading the letter.

Find the old thieves’ hideout

Your next step will be to find the hideout based on the riddle in the letter. You can go back to the tavern and speak with Chenyek about the riddle, with his most useful comment being that the riddle might be referring to a fountain, of which there is only one in the city.

If you wait until noon, the shadow from the fountain while the midday bells are ringing will be pointing to the trader to the north.

Go inside and into the back of the store, then through the door beside the stairs.

In the basement there is a Hard locked door, which you should open and go into the room behind it.

Search the hideout and find the thieves’ symbols

In this room is an Easy locked chest, and inside a document called Parchment with drawings. Take this and then read it from your inventory.

Return to Chenyek and let him copy the symbols/Let Knuckles copy the symbols

Now you have the option of letting either Chenyek and/or Knuckles copy the symbols. You should let Chenyek copy them to continue this quest chain, but whether you let Knuckles copy them is up to you. You do still have to speak to both of them though if you spoke to Knuckles about them at the beginning of the quest.

This finishes The Thieves’ Code side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Hynik’s house has the key to that hard locked door in the thieves guild.

If the door is too hard for you to open, you’ll find the key in the Hynek’s house safe.

If the NPC “Hog” is dead, you will have to pick pocket Hynek for the letter. Easier done when he is sleeping. His doors are “very easy” to lock pick.

At the end of this quest Chenyek says that there is treasure sign at house nearby. Did anyone find it?
