Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Maddening Pain Walkthrough

November 11, 2025 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

Maddening Pain is the 3rd DLC quest in the Mysteria Ecclesiae expansion of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Maddening Pain DLC task.

  • Starting Location: Kuttenberg Region > Sedletz Monastery
  • Quest Giver: Maddie
  • Requirement: Only available during DLC Quest 2: Anamnesis, immediately after talking to Albich in the infirmary for the first time (time-sensitive task)
  • Reward: None
  • Quest Type: Task
  • Quest Description: I met the steward’s peculiar wench Maddie. She was writhing in pain and clutching her belly, as if the Devil himself were dancing in there. At the infirmary they panicked instead of helping her.
  • DLC Required: Mysteria Ecclesiae

Starting Location: Maddening Pain

This task is highly missable and time sensitive. It can only be started during DLC Quest 2: Anamnesis, immediately after talking to Albich in the infirmary for the first time. When exiting the infirmary you will run into Maddie who stands in front of the entrance. She complains about pain in her abdomen. Talk to her, exhaust all questions, and say “Alright, I’ll help you” > “I’ll try and ask in the infirmary”.

If you ignore her, she will walk away and the task is missed.

If you win the skillcheck “I’ll try to diagnose you” and then give Maddie the wrong potion it will make her symptoms worse and the task fails. The correct potion is Anti-inflammatory potion, you get the recipe for it by doing the objectives.

Put in a good word for Maddie with Benedict (Optional)

Head back inside the infirmary and talk to Novice Benedict, the man Maddie was arguing with. He’s the monk in a black and white robe, marked with the “B” objective.

Tell him “Yes” > “I need a potion for a girl” > “Please, help me” -> he gives you a weak Digestive Potion. DON’T give this to Maddie, this is the wrong potion and will fail the quest.

Ask around the infirmary (Optional)

You will get a yellow search area in the infirmary. Ask Albich “I need some advice. A girl is sick.” > “How can I help Maddie?” -> he gives Anti-inflammatory potion recipe. This is the correct recipe.

Search the library (Optional)

Enter the library through the big door in the southern hallway of the monastery. You need to pick up a green book called “The Rose Garden“. From where you enter the library, turn slightly left to see two rows of bookshelves with little tables in the middle. The book is on the first bookshelf on the left, on the little wooden board on the lower part of the bookshelf (not looted from inside the bookshelf).

Read the book (Optional)

Go to Inventory > Books > The Rose Garden. Flip through all pages. There’s a passage “On inflammation of the lower passages” that explains the correct treatment. The correct solution is to brew Maddie an Anti-inflammatory potion.

Try to help Maddie

First, you will need the correct ingredients:

1 Nettle – grows straight across from the infirmary entrance on the northern wall

2 Valerian – grows in the Woodland Garden south-east of the infirmary (go through the gate east of the infirmary to reach it)

1 Ginger – in the infirmary alchemy bench room, inside the cupboard across from the alchemy bench

When you gathered the ingredients, interact with the alchemy bench in the backroom of the infirmary. Make an exit save beforehand so you can retry if needed.

Anti-Inflammatory Potion Recipe:

  1. Add Water (leftmost jar on top left shelf)
  2. Grind 1 Nettle with mortar, throw it into the cauldron
  3. Bellow Boil for 1 turn (lower the cauldron, flip sandglass, use bellows, raise the cauldron when sand runs out)
  4. Add 2 Valerian to cauldron
  5. Boil for 2 turns without bellows (move cauldron down, let sandglass run out twice)
  6. Grind 1 Ginger with mortar, throw it in the cauldron
  7. Use Phial from left shelf and pour

Now go find Maddie at the stables in the north of the monastery. Tell her “About your ailment…” > “I’ll give you something for it” > Give her Anti-inflammatory potion.

Maddie will comment that she already feels better and the task ends here successfully.

This finishes Maddening Pain quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC.

Next up: continue with DLC Quest 2: Anamnesis
