Starting Location: Adept

To start the Legacy of the Forge DLC you must have finished Main Quest 14: Speak of the Devil in Kuttenberg. After this, the DLC will be marked by a purple icon of an anvil in the Kuttenberg region, inside the city near the Hole in the Wall Tavern. Go to the marked location then beside the closed up building, hold :l1: / :lb: and press :x: / :a: to start the first quest.

Talk to Master Bushek

After the initial scene where you speak to Magdalena, you need to head over to the armourer in the center of the city. Speak with the owner Master Bushek inside.

Speak with him and choose the following options for the best outcome: “I’m interested in the burnt down forge.” > “How could I convince them?” > “My father was the blacksmith Martin.” > “I worked at my father’s forge.”

You’ll need to pay 200 groschen per attempt at the trial, but you can pay once and then make a save before it starts to retry from. He also offers you a book for 100 groschen which will give the answers to the questions you will be asked, but this isn’t required.

Meet Bushek for a test in front of the astronomical clock

When you are ready you can either meet Bushek underneath the clock, or speak with him and select “I’d like to wait for the trial” which will automatically wait until the next day and then start you in front of the clock.

Follow Bushek

Hit :l1: / :lb: to follow Bushek to the location of the trial. If you purchased the book he’ll ask you two questions along the way which are the same as the ones you can possibly be asked during the trial, but if you get them wrong he just suggests checking the book again.

Start the trial with Bushek

You can make an exit save to reload if needed, then speak to Bushek to start the trial.

You will be asked 3 total questions for the book Bushek offered. The questions you ask are random and in a random order about the terms in the book, so be careful to pay attention what is asked and the possible responses you have. Some of the characters also ask the questions partially in German, so pay attention to the key words and the responses.

Potential questions are:

  • What colour is a properly heated workpiece? > Straw yellow
  • How can you tell you’re making progress while forging? > Shape
  • Are sparks while forging good or bad? > That depends
  • What’s the final step before completing a piece? > Quenching

Forge the guild sword

After answering the questions you’ll be given materials and the blueprint for the Blacksmith’s guild longsword. Go to the nearby forge and create it. Making one of grade II is enough to count as complete, so you don’t need to be absolutely perfect.

After successfully completing the trial you will automatically move to the Blacksmith’s Hall for a scene, and earn :bronze: Master of the Blacksmiths’ Guild.

Hang up the guild sword

After the scene, interact with the spot on the wall to place your guild sword.

You’ll receive the key to the Guild Hall so you can enter this location on your own in the future. There will be a dialogue option for you to respond to the other guild members, you can respond with whichever you have the highest skill in, but the first two options are obviously nicer responses.

Talk to Magdalena

After the scene, head back to the forge and speak with Magdalena who should be sitting outside.

Unlock the entrance to the forge from the street

The next steps are to clean up the forge so that you can use it. Head around to the front door and interact with the beam to unblock the door. There is also a shovel to the right of the door that you can pick up if you don’t currently have one in your inventory, as you’ll need it to clean up inside the building.

Clean up the debris by the gate

Head inside and you’ll need to interact with the large piles of rocks to first clean them up with the shovel.

After interacting with them with the shovel, interact with the smaller piles again to bag them up, then walk them outside to the cart (you can open the gate before doing this for a shorter walk).

Clean up the rubble by the forge

Repeat the same with the pile of rubble closer to the forge.

Collect the materials on the ground floor (x5)

There will be 5 pieces of material around the ground of the forge, pick up each one.

Open the gate to the yard

Interact with the wooden beam on the large door to open the gate into the yard.

Sweep the floor on the lower floor

With the rest of the area cleaned, you’ll finally need to sweep the floor. Interact with the dirty looking spot that’s right in front of the gate.

Get to the upper floor

With the lower floor cleaned up you can head up the stairs at the back of the house to reach the door to the open floor. You can either lockpick the door, or pick up the key on the table in the forge area to open it without lockpicking.

Clean up the rubble in the upper floor

You’ll need to repeat the same steps as you did in the forge. Interact with the pile of rubble near the destroyed stove to shovel it up, then bag up the rest and throw it in the cart.

Clean up the rubble by the window

Do the same with the pile of rubble near the windows at the back of the room.

Collect the materials on the upper floor (x5)

Collect the 5 materials that are spread around the upper floor.

Sweep the floor on the upper floor

Finally sweep the upper floor in the spot by the table.

Tell Magdalena about the plan you found

Go back downstairs and speak with Magdalena about the plan you picked up while sweeping.

Repair the shop sign using the planning desk

You’ll need to repair the sign on the forge, which also functions as a tutorial for the planning desk which is how you upgrade the shop and purchase items for the building. Interact with the desk then under the House heading select shop sign option with the star, then select Old Forge shop sign.

Talk to Magdalena

You can then speak with Magdalena again which completes this quest, and automatically starts the next Task required to progress the story.

This finishes Adept quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Legacy of the Forge DLC.
