Unveiling is the 10th and final DLC side quest in the Brushes With Death expansion of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Unveiling DLC side quest.
- Starting Location: Kuttenberg Region > Kuttenberg
- Quest Giver: Master Voyta (Enigmatic Painter)
- Requirement: Own Brushes With Death DLC and finished Roots of Evil.
- Reward:
Masterpiece trophy/achievement (you finished Brushes with Death), Shield Symbol: Skull gules
- Quest Type: Side Quest
- Quest Description: Voyta looks more agitated than usual. That doesn’t bode well. He only needs the last figurines for the altar, which are being made by the Kuttenberg carpenters.
- DLC Required: Brushes With Death
Starting Location: Unveiling
After finishing Roots of Evil, keep talking to the painter and say “Did that decoction help?” > “I can go and see that carpenter” to initiate the quest Unveiling.
Ask at the carpenter’s workshop
You will be given a yellow search area near the west gate of Kuttenberg. At the house in the south of the search area you find Carpenter Planck.
Make a save before talking, there’s a skill check coming up. Tell him:
- “The painter sent me for the figurines”
- Pass any of the skill checks to get the info immediately. If the skill checks fail you can tell him “I’ll beat it out of you”. After knocking him out, wait for him to wake up and talk again to get the info.
Either way, he reveals that his apprentice took the figurine and the next objective gets marked on the map.
Find the carved figurine
Go to the quest marker in the woods south-west of Kuttenberg city, between Danemark and Maleshov. There will be a little search area, go to where the letter “B” is from the objective to find an abandoned hut:
Upon approaching the hut, the search area will expand. Make a save as there’s part of a missable trophy coming up. Follow the little trail behind the hut until you reach a bandit camp. There you find Chrudosh tied to a tree, untie him before attacking the bandits:
MISSABLE TROPHY/ACHIEVEMENT: All Fun and Games (hopefully now Stihlau understand there are some things you shouldn’t joke about)
You have to do the optional objective to free Chrudosh and talk to him. It’s recommended to untie Chrudosh before attacking the bandits. If you kill them, then sometimes Chrudosh can’t be talked to anymore because he saw you murder everyone and is scared of you. Talking to him is a prerequisite to learn about Stihlau.
Free Chrudosh (Optional)
Approach Chrudosh from behind and look at his hands to untie him. This is best done at night to avoid being spotted by the enemies.
When done correctly, he will walk to a road outside camp. Follow him, then talk.
Talk to Chrudosh (Optional)
Ask Chrudosh about the lass to learn about Stihlau.
- (Where’s the statuette now? -> only if you free him before stealing the statuette)
- Why did you steal the statuette?
- What will you do?
- Tell me about that lass. -> he mentions Stihlau (important NPC for
All Fun and Games trophy)
- Next time, go to her yourself.
- Why were they holding you in the camp?
- You should get out of here.
He reveals the bandits put the figurine in the chest at the fire pit of their camp. Return there to collect it.
Find the carved figurine (continued)
Loot the Mother Mary statuette from the hard difficulty chest in the bandit camp, next to the cooking pot. The chest also contains other high-value items.
You can lockpick it at night while they sleep, or kill them all and loot the key from the leader. At night only 1-2 of them stand guard while the others sleep. At day they are heavily armored, but at night the ones who sleep only have their nightgown without armor. You could do a stealth-kill on a sleeping enemy, and instakill another with the pistole (rifle). They carry good armor which can be resold for a profit, so it’s worthwhile to take them out.
Go to the painter
MISSABLE TROPHY/ACHIEVEMENT: All Fun and Games (hopefully now Stihlau understand there are some things you shouldn’t joke about)
Fast travel back to Kuttenberg. BEFORE returning to the painter, go back to where you talked to the carpenter earlier in the quest. Outside the carpenter’s house you should find Journeyman Stihlau (at daytime). Talk to him and say “I met Chrudosh”. After the dialogue the trophy unlocks!
MISSABLE TROPHY/ACHEVEMENT: Rest in One Piece (the skull finally reached its final resting place)
When returning to the painter, you have to pick specific dialogues and win a speech skill check to convince him you care about him and didn’t help him for money. Then he gives you his skull and you must place it in the grave of the true Voyta which you visited in a previous quest God Disposes.
Return to the painter and pick these dialogues to get his skull:
- I’ve brought you the last statuette for the altar
- That’s only natural
- You’re doing it for Voyta
- I help everyone
- You said they weren’t sins
- It wasn’t murder but a good job
- No, I do care about you (Speech Skill Check – Medium difficulty) -> must succeed this for
Rest in One Piece to get the skull! I had 24 speech skill but less should suffice.
- I’m here because you’re my friend -> he will open up to you
- The devil isn’t leading you, don’t be afraid -> he gives the skull after the ending
It will trigger a cutscene, then you talk to the painter again:
- Can I help you with anything else?
- What will you do next?
Afterward the DLC storyline is complete and you unlock the story-related Masterpiece trophy/achievement (you finished Brushes with Death).
If you picked the correct dialogues, he will give you his skull “Painter’s muse“. Now you just need to return to Voyta’s grave from God Disposes and place the skull in there. Bring a shovel to dig up the grave (can be bought from merchants). The grave is in the southwest of Kuttenberg region, between the towns Bylany and Wysoka, under the tree with 3 roots. It should still be marked on the map with an icon called “Vojtech’s grave“. You have to dig up the grave, then interact with the skeleton to place the skull.
This unlocks Rest in One Piece (the skull finally reached its final resting place).
With this the DLC is officially done. Congratulations and hope you enjoyed the walkthrough!
