The Last of Us 2 The Gate Collectibles Locations

June 18, 2020 by PowerPyx 16 Comments

Chapter 8: The Gate (Seattle Day 1) contains 11 Collectible Locations in The Last of Us 2 (TLOU2). This walkthrough will guide you to all collectibles in The Gate Chapter in chronological order. Everything that’s needed for trophies and 100% completion is included: Artifacts, Journal Entries, Trading Cards, Coins, Safes, Training Manuals, Workbenches, Weapons, Supplements (Player Upgrades), Parts (Weapon Upgrades).

If you forget a Collectible you can still get it via Chapter Select, so nothing is missable.

  • Artifacts: 6
  • Trading Cards: 4
  • Journal Entries: 1

Video Guide

Trading Card #1: Motivator
Hanging on the wall of the bus stop, very shortly after the chapter begins. You’ll ride around it automatically which also triggers a short dialogue. Dismount the horse to grab it.

Trading Card #2: The Starfire Kids
In the construction trailer on the left side while riding down the overgrown freeway.

Artifact #1: Map of Seattle
Same trailer building as above, get map from drawer.

Journal Entry #1
When you reach the end of the overgrown highway there’s a big gate with graffiti on it that says “WLF TRESPASSERS KILLED ON SIGHT!”. Interact :triangle: with that gate to get the Journal Entry.

Artifact #2: Refugee Note
In first trailer building left of “TRESPASSERS KILLED ON SIGHT!” wall.

Artifact #3: Infected infographic
In second trailer building left of “TRESPASSERS KILLED ON SIGHT!” wall.

Parts x7
Left of “TRESPASSERS KILLED ON SIGHT!” wall, on the truck furthest on the left parked in a corner (climb up back of truck).

Parts x3
Left of “TRESPASSERS KILLED ON SIGHT!” wall, in the little guard house in the fenced area (to immediate left of that wall).

Trading Card #3: Chessmaster
To advance you must climb the truck parked in the corner furthest left of “TRESPASSERS KILLED ON SIGHT!” wall, from the truck jump on the roofs, climb the ladder and make your way across the wall. You’ll come to a tower where a ladder leads down, but instead of climbing down, look left for a ladder leading up the guard tower. At the top you find a Trading Card, Artifact, and 5 Weapon Parts.

Artifact #4: Isaac’s Orders
Same room as above.

Parts x5
Same room as above.

Artifact #5: Checkpoint Gate Codes
From the last collectibles climb down the ladders to the bottom. It will be in the trailer building straight ahead (in a drawer).

Artifact #6: Rooftop Note
Behind the trailer building from the last Artifact you find a generator and a yellow power cable. Turn on the generator and grab the yellow cable. Before opening the fence door next to the generator, throw the yellow cable from the generator over the building to the other side. Ideally, you stand at the Generator, throw it behind the sign on the trailer’s roof, have it land next to the fence door. You can now grab the yellow cable :x: on the other side to use it as a rope and climb up the trailer building. You find several Collectibles on the roof: 1 Artifact (in chair), 1 Trading Card (next to chair), 7 Supplements, 4 Parts. There are some items standing on top of the Artifact and Trading card so pick up everything on the roof to see them.

Trading Card #4: Oozer
Same roof as above.

Parts x4
Same roof as above.

Supplements x13
Same roof as above (6 on the ground and 7 on the chair).

Parts x12 + Supplements x17
In the trailer building where you enter the gate code (0512) you can break the window to climb out the back. There you can go up a watchtower to find 12 Parts and 17 Supplements, one of the better-hidden locations.

That’s 100% of the collectibles you can find in Chapter 8: The Gate in The Last of Us Part II.

It’s 13 supplements not 7 on the roof of the trailer near the generator. 7 supplements on the ground, then 6 supplements on the chait.

I can’t pick up the Oozer card, there is no prompt to pick it up and I have the note, a bottle, half a dose of alcool and some long rifle ammo… and of course the card that I can’t pick up. I tried starting a new game but it’s still the same.
    any ideas?

Any luck with this yet, because I’m having the same issue, and it’s frustrating. I’ve beaten the game and am now going back for trophies, and this is the only one that’s keeping me from getting all the trophies. So infuriating. And I can’t figure it out.

I’m having this same issue. I’ve completed the game and going back for the few collectibles I didn’t find 1st time through and this is the only one I can’t get. I’ve restarted the chapter a couple of times, but no luck. This is so annoying!!

I’m having the same problem too, I have capture down a screenshot and posted under the comment in Naughty Dog official facebook but no further action for my issue. However, in order to pick up this Oozer card, you need to start over a completely new game but not jump into the chapter directly. Don’t play in New Game+ because your old buggy save will carry forward into the New Game+. Besides that, some players have the issue of the game won’t unlock “Tools of the Trade” trophy. In order to unlock this trophy, you need to start over a completely new game to play from Jackson County until around Abby’s Seattle day 1 or day 2. Don’t waste your time to use back your old save data because it won’t unlock in New Game+.

I was having the same issue, but figured out a workaround. Load an old save where your weapons aren’t fully upgraded. Then, there will be salvage parts on top of the card you have to grab first. Once you grab those you should be able to pick up the card. I think there’s a bug where grabbing the parts is required before the game makes the card interactive, which puts people who didn’t find it until NG++ in a crappy situation.

Couldn’t pick up the roof note, but I got the oozer card. I’ll have to come back for it another time on CH select.

I agree with PM. I’m on NG+ and could not collect it. I loaded a first run through save, quit to home then loaded the gate chapter. Got it no problem. Saved and reloaded my NG+ game. Looked at stats for the gate chapter and all cards found!

I’ve tried going back in Chapter mode, from my most progressed game and it won’t save all the new things found. I’m just going to play from the beginning.

I’m having trouble getting the lookout artifact and card. The prompt to climb up the yellow cord does not show up I’ve tried throwing it in different places for me to be able to climb up the trailor but nothing works. Restarted from checkpoint/closed game so on.. what should I do I’m trying to go for trophies and this is keeping me from doing that. I’m playing on my fifth run and on NG+. What should I do? This is incredibly annoying.

You could always change the hard settings out to make it easier. I found by doing that, some things that were hard to obtain seemed easier, or reread up in the earlier comments. Wish you luck with it as I try a second go around playing the game myself.
