In Horizon Forbidden West, there are so-called Metal Flowers that are spreading vines to block your path. You will find them at locations marked by “(?)” icons on the map and sometimes in Relic Ruins or during quests. This guide explains how to destroy the metal flowers and vines.
What are Metal Flowers?
Metal Flowers, as the name suggests, are metallic flowers that grow green vines. They can block your path and must be destroyed to reach some places.
How to Destroy Metal Flowers & Vines?
To destroy Metal Flowers and Vines you need the Vine Cutter Module. It is unlocked automatically during Main Quest 12: Seeds of the Past, during Objective “Craft the Vine Cutter”. This cannot be missed, it’s a mandatory story item. Simply advance the story far enough and you will unlock the Vine Cutter automatically:
Then you can attack the metal flowers 3 times and press R1 to insert the Vine Cutter Module. This will destroy the flower and removes the vines. Because of this you can’t finish some Ruins and other places until after the 12th Main Quest.
