Signal Spike is a Side Quest in Horizon Forbidden West (HZFW). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Signal Spike side mission.

Location: Camp Nowhere
Quest Giver: Minda
Quest Level: Level 16
Requirement: None, locate the quests start in the open world
Reward: 5330 XP, 2 Skill Points, Weapon “Spinthorn Spike Thrower”
Mission Info: An Oseram fled west into the desert from Camp Nowhere. She is unlikely to survive on her own.

Objectives:

  • Find the Oseram Runaway
  • Kill the Machines / Talk to the Oseram
  • Go to the Spike on the Cliff / Reacquire the Signal
  • Return to the Oseram Tinker
  • Go to the Tower in Scalding Spear / Climb up the Tower / Reacquire the Signal
  • Go to the Mountain above the Base /Climb up the south face of the mountain / Reacquire The Signal
  • Go to the Origin of the Signal / Kill the Machines
  • Search the Canyon for the Source of the Signal / Loot the Crate
  • Return to Silga / Craft a Weapon using the Recovered Supplies

Starting Location: Camp Nowhere

This side quest has 2 possible starting points. Option #1 is in Camp Nowhere:

Option #2 is on a hill west of Camp Nowhere, by rescuing a woman (Silga) who’s being attacked by machines (marked as “?” icon on map). In this case it will skip the first quest objective.

Find the Oseram Runaway

In Camp Nowhere talk to Minda. She will tell you about a woman running from the camp and about the woman’s survival chances on her own being minimal. Aloy decides to search for the woman.

Kill the Machines / Talk to the Oseram

Once you arrive at the quest location the woman will be in a struggle with some machines. Kill the machines and talk to her. She has a sort of radio receiver but she can’t get the full message because of the signal strength.

Go to the Spike on the Cliff / Reacquire the Signal

Aloy decides to climb up to the spike to check the signal out herself. Follow the wires to the top and scan the area. Aloy can’t get a good signal of the message either.

Return to the Oseram Tinker

Head back to the woman. You can simply glide down back to her. Aloy comes up with the idea of using the ancient method of triangulating the signal from 3 different points in order to pinpoint its location. Since the spike already was one, you will have to visit 2 more locations.

Go to the Tower in Scalding Spear / Climb up the Tower / Reacquire the Signal

Head to Scalding Spear where a big tower is located.

You can find a grappling point on the side of tower. From there it is an easy climb to the top. At the top you will once again scan the area.

Go to the Mountain above the Base / Climb up the south face of the mountain / Reacquire The Signal

The third location is the mountain above Aloy’s Base. From the east exit of Aloy’s Base, you can climb up the mountain a bit but will have to climb up even higher on the southern side of the mountain. If you are playing this side mission after finishing the main story, simply use your flying mount to save yourself the climb.

Go to the Origin of the Signal / Kill the Machines

With all 3 locations visited, Aloy pinpoints the location of the signal. Head to the canyon and kill the 5 machines roaming the area first.

Search the Canyon for the Source of the Signal / Loot the Crate

Once done use your focus :r3: to locate a purple circle. Head in that direction and destroy the wall by prying it open with your spear :r2: .

Head into the water there and dive to the other side to find a crate from where the signal originates.

Return to Silga / Craft a Weapon using the Recovered Supplies

Now head back to Silga and explain the situation to her. Once the cutscene is over, head to the Workbench and craft the new weapon “Sprinthorn Spike Thrower” (under quest item section at workbench) to finish this side mission.

This finishes Signal Spike Side Quest in Horizon 2: Forbidden West.
