Horizon Forbidden West has 4 Salvage Contractor Locations. Salvage Contractors are a special type of merchant who sell all sorts of crafting materials. They are the most useful merchants in the game, because in order to craft certain ammo types you need rare crafting materials. At Salvage Contractors you can buy those resources directly. For example, Chillwater, Machine Muscle, Purgewater, Metal Bone, Blast Paste are frequently used ammo crafting materials. These can be bought relatively cheaply from Salvage Contractors in exchange for Metal Shards. This way you don’t need to farm for ammo crafting materials too long and you never run out of ammo for your favorite weapons. They also sell some Very Rare and even Legendary grade crafting materials, often needed to upgrade weapons and outfits at the workbench. Especially when playing the Arena challenges, it’s good to stock up on crafting resources beforehand.

Each Salvage Contractor also gives you a series of Salvage quests to complete. Doing all quests for one Salvage Contractor unlocks the trophy “Completed a Set of Salvage Contracts”.
