Horizon Forbidden West A Tribe Apart Walkthrough

A Tribe Apart is a Side Quest in Horizon Forbidden West (HZFW). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the A Tribe Apart side mission.

Location: Stone’s Echo
Quest Giver: Jaxx
Quest Level: Level 15
Requirement: None, locate the quest start in the open world
Reward: 3750 XP, 2 Skill Points, Tenakth Vindicator Face Paint
Mission Info: An Utaru, Jaxx, seeks to help a squad of Tenakth who are a long way from home. But Tenakth are dangerous to approach without backup.

Objectives:

  • Follow Jax / Enter the Cave
  • Follow Sokorra
  • Go to Riverwatch
  • Kill the Machines
  • (Optional) Talk to Jaxx and Sokorra
  • Find an Entrance to Riverwatch
  • Pull the Metal out of the Wall
  • Enter Riverwatch
  • Loot the War Chest
  • Find Jaxx and Sokorra
  • Kill the Machines
  • Talk to Jaxx and Sokorra
  • Return to Eagle Squad
  • Talk to Jaxx and Sokorra

Starting Location: Stone’s Echo

This side quest has two possible spawn locations. Option #1 is in Stone’s Echo directly:

Option #2 is in a cave south of Stone’s Echo:

Follow Jaxx / Enter the Cave

You will find Jaxx outside Stone’s Echo. He wants to help out a group of Tenakht but doesn’t want to approach them alone, since he doesn’t know how they will react to him offering his help. Follow Jaxx into a Cave where you will a group.

Follow Sokorra / Go to Riverwatch

One of group’s warriors is blinded and his sister Sokorra wants to find supplies for the group.

Aloy, Jaxx and Sokorra head towards Riverwatch where supplies are supposed to be. You will have to swim to the other shore with Sokorra and Jaxx.

Kill the Machines

Once you reach Riverwatch you will have to take care of a small group of machines.

Talk to Jaxx and Sokorra [Optional]

After defeating the machines you can talk to the two NPCs, they will stand where you fought the machines.

Enter Riverwatch / Find an Entrance to Riverwatch / Pull the Metal out of the Wall

Once done you can either have a talk with Sokorra and Jaxx which is optional or search for the entrance. In order to get inside the walls you will have to use your Pullcaster ( :l2: + :triangle: > hold :r2: ) on the wall around the corner. This will create an entrance for you so head inside through the basement, head to the upper floor there and you will find yourself in the courtyard.

Loot the War Chest

Here you will have to shoot down a wooden pallet from a crane, which will crack open the floor beneath it. From there grab the crate and push it towards the higher roof. Climb up and follow the path on the castle walls.

You will have to use the Pullcaster to pull yourself to the higher edge here, at the other end of this arch use the Pullcaster again to reach a ladder which will lead you to the chest you are here for.

Find Jaxx and Sokorra / Kill the Machines

While Aloy finds the chest the other guys drew attention from some machines. Rappel down and help Jaxx and Sokorra kill the 3 machines there. 2 of them sometimes don’t want to cross the river and can spawn further away, so if the same happens to you, you know where to find them.

Talk to Jaxx and Sokorra

After defeating the machines talk to the two NPCs again.

Return to Eagle Squad / Talk to Jaxx and Sokorra

Head back to the cave with the Eagle Squad. Jaxx will offer to take the blind man into Plainsong and take care of him, while the others stay in the wild.
