The Way Home is a Side Quest in Horizon Forbidden West (HZFW). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the The Way Home side mission.
Location: Legacy’s Landfall
Quest Giver: Harriem and Kristia
Quest Level: Level 32
Requirement: Must have unlocked the flying mount from Main Quest 16: The Wings of the Ten.
Reward: 8000xp, 2 Skill Points
Mission Info: Harriem and Kristia, two Quen navigators, require a gyrocompass to guide their fleet on the return journey home. They need Aloy to retrieve it from the wreckage of one of their ships.
Objectives:
- Fly to the Shipwreck
- Kill the Machines (Optional)
- Search the Shipwreck for the Gyrocompass
- Search Scrap Piles for the Gyrocompass
- Return to Harriem and Kristia
- Go to the Ancient Shipwreck Site
- Search the Site for Shipwrecks
- Gather Resources for the Gyromcompass, 0/1 Sensor Unit, 0/3 Batteries
- Go to the Coordinates of the Transmission
- Kill the Dreadwing
- Gather the Sensor Unit
- Deliver the Parts to Harriem and Kristia
Starting Location: The Way Home
Fly to the Shipwreck
Fly over to the shipwreck on your flying mount “Sunwing”. The flying mount is unlocked in Main Quest 16: The Wings of the Ten.
Kill the Machines (Optional)
This is optional, there a few machines wandering around this part of the island, kill or avoid them.
Search the Shipwreck for the Gyrocompass
Scan the ship here, Aloy will comment that there is no compass here.
Search Scrap Piles for the Gyrocompass
Now you need to find the compass from a scrap pile, more specifically this one right here:
Return to Harriem and Kristia
Now return to Legacy’s Landfall and talk to Harriem and Kristia again.
Go to the Ancient Shipwreck Site
Travel to this area and fly south, out to sea using your Sunwing flying mount.
Search the Site for Shipwrecks
As you fly further in to sea in the objective area, you will find a sunken ship.
Gather Resources for the Gyrocompass
Dive underwater to access the wreckage, and examine the sensor unit (satellite dish) on the outside of it just here.
There is a battery just below this sensor unit, use your focus if you are struggling to find it.
A bit further beyond the battery you just collected is a sunken building, in here is another battery.
There is another shipwreck back at the shore on the beach here, there is a battery inside.
Go to the Coordinates of the Transmission
Once you have all three batteries, travel to this new objective area.
Kill the Dreadwing
Once you arrive at the shipwreck, right next to the campfire, a Dreadwing will appear, kill it.
Gather the Sensor Unit
Now you need to run up the 2 tightropes here to reach the top of the ship, use the grapple point here, then grab the sensor unit next to it.
Deliver the Parts to Harriem and Kristia
Now return to Harriem and Kristia, talk to them and the quest will be complete.
