Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Johnny the Gob Walkthrough

February 9, 2025 by PowerPyx 4 Comments

Johnny the Gob is a side task in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Johnny the Gob side task.

  • Starting Location: Trosky Region > Semine
  • Quest Giver: Gules
  • Requirement: Completed The Jaunt > Canker > Handsome Charlie
  • Reward: Johnny the Gob’s shield (if you don’t kill Johnny and let him go you can keep his shield)
  • Quest Type: Task
  • Questline: The Blacksmith’s Son > The Jaunt > (Canker > Handsome Charlie > Johnny the Gob > Casper) > The Hermit > A Sinful Soul
  • Quest Description: Next in line is Johnny the Gob, Gules’ right hand man.
  • Missable Warning: This task is double missable. Fail condition #1: missable Side Quest The Jaunt is a prerequisite, must be done before entering the wedding in Main Quest 5: Wedding Crashers. Fail condition #2: in Main Quest 8: Necessary Evil must avoid the raid on Semine, if you tell Bergow that Semine is aiding the bandits then Semine Fortress will be burned down.

Objectives:

  1. Break up Johnny the Gob’s gang
  2. Bring the Gob’s shield to Gules

Starting Location: Johnny the Gob

After completing Gule’s previous quest Handsome Charlie, skip time for 2 days to make a new quest icon appear on the guard named Gules in Semine fortress. Talk to him and exhaust all dialogues to start this task. At day he wears red armor and stands somewhere around Semine Fortress. In the evening he walks wears a green coat and walks around Semine fortress or sleeps in the guardhouse.

Break up Johnny the Gob’s gang

Gules asks you to defeat Johnny and bring back his shield as proof, but he has a special request: to spare Johnny if you can.

When talking to Gules you can say “If I can, I’ll let him go (Leave)“. You can still decide later whether to kill him or not. If you spare him you get to keep his shield, if you kill him you have to give the shield to Gules.

Go to Johnny’s location, in the west of the map. He’s taken over your camp from Main Quest 2: Easy Riders, where his gang ambushed your group at the lake. It will be marked when tracking the quest.

Be well prepared and at full health. There are 7 bandits in the camp, they will attack on sight. You’ll want to have at minimum sword skill level 10. It’s best to use a short sword in combination with the Gladiator skill that grants +5 swordfighting skill levels, makes it significantly easier to hit enemies and they will die faster. Remember to buff yourself with potions and alcohol, have your weapon fully sharpened, equip the heavy armor looted from previous quests.

Walk in big circles around the enemies, always attack the ones on the side of the group. Don’t attack the one in the middle, otherwise they will encircle you from the side. Take out the ones with light armor first. Keep Johnny the Gob for last, he’s the one with a big green shield.

When Johnny is the last one standing, hit him a few times and he will yield. Then you can talk to him. To let him go say “You’ve finally come to your senses“. Then he hands over his shield as proof that you defeated him, and he leaves Trosky region forever. If you say “Too late for that” he will keep fighting and you’d have to kill him.

Afterward you can loot the bodies for lots of items to resell. If you get overburdened you can move items to your horse (press :square: / :x1: in inventory if horse is nearby). Can sell it to Fence Whietbeard in Nomad’s camp for quick money.

Bring the Gob’s shield to Gules

Fast travel back to Semine.

  • If you spared Johnny: the quest autocompletes, can’t actually talk to Gules or give him the shield, the quest ends immediately (might be a bug that ends the quest early). This lets you keep the shield as you don’t need to hand it over to Gules. Afterward you can wait 2 days for the next quest to become available.
  • If you killed Johnny and looted his shield: can talk to Gules and give him the shield, say “The Gob’s gang is no more” > Can win skill check or if it fails say “It was either him or me” > “It was quick”. Then the quest completes after talking to Gules.

Either way, you can skip 2 days to get the next quest marker on Gules, which leads to his final quest Casper.

This finishes Johnny the Gob side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Next Quest: Casper

If you return without using fast movement, the task will not be completed automatically, and you can pass it as expected.

I managed to get to Semin by fast movement and talk to Gules. To do this, you need to use fast movement immediately after receiving the shield.

I’ve only now realized hours later that I never turned in the shield. It’s listed as completed under the quests done tab, but it has a little yellow marker next to it saying I need to turn in the shield.

Anyone know if this still counts as a completed quest? Am I really gonna have to replay hours of the game for this one quest?

It’s normal if you didn’t kill Johnny, then the quest autocompleted without turning in the shield. Still counts.
