Prevention is the 4th DLC quest in the Mysteria Ecclesiae expansion of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Prevention DLC task.
- Starting Location: Kuttenberg Region > Sedletz Monastery
- Quest Giver: Albich of Uniczow
- Requirement: Finished Mysteria Ecclesiae 2nd DLC Quest Anamnesis
- Reward:
Better Safe Than Sorry trophy/achievement - Quest Type: Task
- Quest Description: If the plague really is raging in the monastery, it would be wise to prepare for it. I need to get hold of a rope, perhaps there will be one near the building site. To make the mask, I also need some leather. There might be some near the stables. I should get hold of a few mint leaves. I’m sure I can find some in the herbaist’s garden. I need to pick some sage in the garden. I should take a look in the library for a recipe for aromatic oil.
- DLC Required: Mysteria Ecclesiae
Objectives:
- Get some rope
- Get some leather
- Get some mint (x4)
- Get some sage (x4)
- Get the recipe for aromatic oil
- Brew the aromatic oil
- Make the plague outfit
Starting Location: Prevention
Automatically starts when the previous DLC quest Anamnesis ends. Importantly, you should do this task BEFORE investigating the crypt for Silent Witnesses. If you go into the crypt without the mask, you will get a permanent sickness debuff which reduces your stats. By crafting the mask first, you can protect yourself and won’t get the sickness debuff.
After you get this quest, you can talk to Zacharias (the doctor) again in the infirmary and he gives you tips on where to find the materials. Also pick his dialogue with a golden quest icon “Can I help you with anything?” and exhaust all other dialogues with him too. This marks his bodyguard Denes with a side quest icon in the Infirmary, talking to him gives the missable task Our Old Bread. For
Do Good to All People, you will need to do all side tasks for people in the Monastery, all of which are missable if you advance the DLC storyline too far. So do the side content right now.
Side Tasks to do now:
» Our Old Bread (needed for
Do Good to All People &
Ostraconophobia)
» Foreseeing Evil (we’ll pick it up during the above quest, from talking to Librarian Crispin and picking the non-skillcheck dialogue)
» The Last Wish (from monk Athanasius above the library, or Constantine in the garden)
MISSABLE TROPHY/ACHIEVEMENT:
Quiet as a Church Mouse – The knights never had to escort you to the infirmary.
The monastery now goes on lockdown and if you’re seen outside the infirmary you will be held up by the guards. For the rest of the DLC you are not allowed to be caught by the guards. They would put you back in the infirmary which voids the trophy. If you complete the rest of the DLC in stealth without guards catching you, then the trophy unlocks when completing the DLC. If you are ever caught, reload the previous save.
Get some rope
Flax Rope can be found in the church where construction takes place, in the north of the monastery, where the “Caved-in crypt ceiling” icon is on the map. It’s on the ground just above the hole in the ground.
There will be two workers talking to the left of it. Throw rocks to lure them far enough away, then quickly grab the rope. Make an exit save beforehand so you can reload it they catch you.
Get some leather
Leather can be found in an easy difficulty chest north of the church, under a white tent along the road. Loot the Cow Skin from the chest, it counts as Leather. This is across from the entrance to the stables where you talked to Steward Zdenyek earlier.
Get some mint (x4)
Mint is found in the Woodland garden in the south-east of the monastery grounds. Go through the gate east of the infirmary entrance to reach it. Mint looks like small green leaves, it grows at the southern edge of the planter.
Get some sage (x4)
Sage grows in the same garden as mint, at the northern edge of the same spot. Looks like a purple flower.
NOTE: You will also need 3 Camomile + 1 Valerian to make the aromatic oil! So pick these up while at the garden, both are in the planter slightly east from the mint/sage. The game only tells you about these ingredients after getting the recipe when you’re at the alchemy bench. Mint isn’t actually used in the recipe at all, it’s just needed at the end of the quest to decorate the mask with it.
Get the recipe for aromatic oil
The aromatic oil recipe is found in the library, from reading the book on the bookstand furthest south-west in the library. Flip through all pages of the book.
Brew the aromatic oil
Go to the alchemy bench in the infirmary where Albich and the sick people are. It’s through the door in the south corner of the infirmary, in a little side room. You need to craft the Essential Oil. Turns out that mint isn’t used in the recipe, instead you need 3 Camomile + 1 Sage + 1 Valerian. All these are found in the Woodland Garden south-east of the infirmary.
Recipe:
- Add oil (top left shelf, third jar from the left)
- Add 3 chamomile to cauldron, boil for 3 turns (lower cauldron, flip the sandglass 3 times until the sand runs out, move cauldron up)
- Grind 1 sage and add to the cauldron (put sage in mortar, grind with pestle, drop it in cauldron)
- Boil for 1 turn (move cauldron down, let sandglass run out, move cauldron up)
- Grind 1 valerian and add to the cauldron (put valerian in mortar, grind with pestle, drop in cauldron)
- Pour (take phial from bottom left shelf, use on cauldron)
If done correctly, you will get Fragrant Oil.
Make the plague outfit
Turn to the immediate right of the alchemy bench and interact with the table in the same room to build the plague outfit. You get the prompt “Make a plague mask” in the bottom right of the screen if you gathered all the ingredients.
Deliver all ingredients from your inventory: 8 Mint or Sage, 1 Cow Skin (Leather), 1 Fragrant oil (Aromatic oil), 1 Flax Rope.
The screen will fade to black, you automatically get the plague outfit and the
Better Safe Than Sorry trophy/achievement.
This finishes the Prevention task in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC.
