February 3, 2025 by Gage 5 Comments

Troubadours is a side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Troubadours side mission.

  • Starting Location: Trosky Region > Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn
  • Quest Giver: George
  • Requirement: Started Main Quest 5: Wedding Crashers, George and Michael must be sitting at the table at the Inn to speak with them
  • Reward: Nothing
  • Quest Type: Side Quest
  • Quest Description: Two lads from Zhelejov dream of being bards extolled throughout the land. But they need a helping hand…

Objectives:

  1. Get a lute
  2. Take the lute to George and Michael
  3. What to do with the broken lute?
  4. Find strings
  5. Bring the huntsman some sheep gut
  6. Take the lute strings to Michael and George
  7. Pay off the debt to the innkeeper
  8. Dig out the latrine
  9. Carry sacks
  10. Tell Michael and George the good news

Starting Location: Troubadours

To start this quest, you need to find George and Michael who are sometimes sitting at the tables at Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn. They will be talking to each other and you will have the option to speak with George. During the conversation agree to help them out to start the quest.

Get a lute

The pair explain they want you to obtain a lute that is located in the carpenter’s workshop in Troskowitz.

You have the option of speaking to the Carpenter about the lute and he’ll explain where it came from, but he will refuse to sell it regardless of what you say to him. The more important info he will give is about his father who always stays in the workshop, which is the room you need to go into to grab the lute. This means to steal it you need to wait until nighttime when he goes to bed and leaves the room.

Lockpick the only door on the workshop, then again to go through the door on the left. You can then steal the lute off the wall.

Take the lute to George and Michael

With the lute in your possession, head back to the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn and speak to George and Michael again to give them the lute. A man will come along and accidentally break the lute. Michael asks you to beat him up, but you also have the option of passing a Persuasion check to have him apologize.

What to do with the broken lute?

You can then offer to help fix the lute. They suggest that Huntsman Vostatek made strings for someone, and if you have already completed the side quest Lackey Henry will say that he knows him. If you haven’t completed Lackey, you will need to if you want to get the strings.

Find strings

Go to Huntsman Vostatek’s which is located just southeast of Vidlak Pond.

He’ll explain that he needs sheep guts to make the strings from. If you are trying to earn the Lent trophy/achievement then you will NOT be able to do this by killing sheep, as that will void that requirement. Vostatek says that you can also purchase the guts from a butcher, so your best option will be to go to the butcher located in Troskowitz.

You are looking specifically for the Miscellanous item “Sheep Guts”, which can be purchased for very little.

Bring the huntsman some sheep gut

Once you have obtained the sheep guts, return to Vostatek and ask him to make the strings.

Take the lute strings to Michael and George

Now with strings in hand, you can head back to the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn to give the strings to Michael and George.

Pay off the debt to the innkeeper

When speaking to them again, they explain that they owe Innkeeper Lawrence a bunch of money and he won’t let them leave. You need to talk to Lawrence and come up with a solution. Ask him about Michael and George, and then he’ll explain the jobs he wanted them to do. You can pass a speech check to convince him to let you pay it off, to where you can haggle from a starting price of 100 Groschen for him to pay someone else to do it.

If you don’t do this, you have the option of doing the work for them yourself, which takes a bit longer but saves you money.

Dig out the latrine

First head behind the barn, where you will have to dig out the latrine that is behind the barn. You will need a spade for this, but there is thankfully one sticking out of the pile of dirt opposite the outhouse.

Carry sacks

You will also need to carry a total of 8 sacks from the spot by the barrel cart, into the left side of the barn.

Tell Michael and George the good news

Once you have either completed the tasks and returned to Lawrence, or convinced him to take money instead, head back to the pair and let them know their debt is paid off to complete the quest.

This finishes Troubadours side quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

You can actually buy the lute for 200 groschen. I passed the 14 Persuasion check and he did budge.

If you steal the Lute, the pair of them will end up in the stocks in Kuttenburg, where you can talk to them and even free them.

To buy the lute: Walk into the house while the carpenter’s dad is asleep. Open the door to the room the lute is in, and he’ll immediately wake up and run to you because you’re in a private area. Engage in dialogue and ask him what he does all day. You’ll have the option to either give him mead right there, or get him some. Select “I’ll get you some” (IMPORTANT!). This will unlock the dialogue option to pay him for the lute in exchange for future mead. If you give him mead right then and there, he’ll just go to sleep and you won’t be able to talk to him again. This prevents Michael & George from getting put in the stocks in Kuttenberg later.
