Assassin’s Creed Valhalla How to Restore Health

November 8, 2020 by PowerPyx Leave a Comment

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (ACV) your health does not recharge automatically. Instead, you must recharge it manually. This quick guide shows you all the ways to restore health in AC Valhalla.

Method #1: Eat Food

Collect berries/mushrooms from the wilderness or food from boiling pots at towns. This restores a bit of health. When your health is full, collecting additional food will build up rations (food saved for later). You can find plenty of bushes with berries at your settlement in England. Enough to restore your health and fill up some rations. If you are heading for a difficult enemy, be sure to stock up here beforehand (can use fast travel to make food bushes respawn).

Method #2: Rations

Use rations by pressing D-Pad right :right: . If you collected enough extra food at full health you gain a ration. You can see the progress towards the next ration in the bottom left of the screen (left of your health it says how many rations you have and a circle shows how much food you have for the next ration). Rations heal more than normal food. They are food saved for later when you need it. Rations can also be found from killed animals/enemies. It takes multiple pieces of food from the wild to fill a ration. You can upgrade your rations on the left side of the inventory to carry more of them (up to 6 total). This is extremely helpful for boss fights as you can heal when needed.

Method #3: Fishing

You can also eat fish. Build the Fisherman’s hut at your settlement in England (Ravensthorpe) to gain the fishing rod. The fishing rod can be found in your item wheel (hold Dpad Down  and select the fishing rod). Alternatively, simply jump into a river and melee the fish to collect them. This recharges health and adds to your rations if you’re already at full health.

Method #4: Sleep in Bed

At your settlement in England (Ravensthorpe), you have a bed inside the biggest building (Longhouse). Sleep in it to restore health fully.

That’s all the main ways to restore health in AC Valhalla. By not restoring your health automatically, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla takes a bit of a detour from previous games in the franchise, giving it a more hardcore feel. But don’t worry, food is very common in towns and in the wilderness. And you can always fast travel back to your settlement in England to loot the food bushes there.
