Assassin’s Creed Valhalla How to Get Excalibur

November 10, 2020 by PowerPyx 9 Comments

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla you can unlock the secret Sword of Excalibur. This guide shows how to unlock Excalibur in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla step by step. Getting Excalibur unlocks the Caladfwlch trophy or achievement.

There are 11 Tablets that you must first find. 8 Tablets come from doing the Treasure of Britain (blue Mystery Events). These are underground cave systems with the Treasure at the end. The remaining 3 are dropped by specific Zealots (Order of the Ancients Members): Woden, Heike, Hrothgar.

Then you have to go to Myrddin’s Cave in Hamtunscire (the cave is named on the map) to insert the 11 Tablets in a stone circle. This will make Excalibur appear. Then you can draw Excalibur from the stone.

Step 1: Get Treasures of Britain (8 Tablets)

First you must find all Treasure of Britain. Their Locations are shown below. They are in underground cave systems that require some platforming work. Then the Treasure will be at the end of the cave. Use Odin’s Sight :r3: to scan for the Treasure to see a blue highlight around it.

Treasure of Britain #1: East Anglia

Treasure of Britain #2: Essexe

Treasure of Britain #3: Cent

Treasure of Britain #4: Suthsexe

Treasure of Britain #5: Hamtunscire

Treasure of Britain #6: Hamtunscire

Treasure of Britain #7: Eurviscire

Treasure of Britain #8: Snotinghamscire

Step 2: Get Tablets from Zealots (3 Tablets)

3 of the Tablets come from specific Zealots that always drop them (Woden, Heike, Hrothgar). Zealots are a type of Order of the Ancients Member. They ride around on horses on scripted paths along specific regions. They will always ride on roads, never offroad in the wild. There are two ways to find them: either ride around the roads in the area around their location shown below or just wait in the specific location until they ride by. It could take quite a while before they show up, but you can just wait on the road to keep it simple.

They are quite powerful enemies. You may want to level up first or put your game on easy difficulty in game options. Parry their attacks, then counter-attack (red rune attacks must be dodged). Dual-Wielding Daggers are great against them, the :r1: / :rb: Dagger Attacks can stunlock them and it deals a lot of damage.

They will also show on the map by a white helmet icon when they are within 300 meters or so: , Below are the three Zealots you need and their locations (Woden, Heike, Hrothgar).

Woden: Cent – he’s riding on a horse along one of the roads of Cent region. It’s random where exactly he is because he’s moving around. Your best bet is to ride along every main road of Cent (you can see the outlines of roads on the world map). He won’t be riding through the wilderness, only on roads. When you are in close proximity and scan him :r3: / :rs: he’ll get marked as an Order Member. You will also see a white Zealot Icon on the map when he’s within a few hundred meters of you. Just scan everyone you see riding on a horse in Cent. The below location is where I found him, you could also wait there and hope for him to ride by after some time.

Heike: Essexe – she’s riding on a horse along one of the roads of Essexe region. It’s random where exactly she is because she’s moving around. Your best bet is to ride along every main road of Essexe (you can see the outlines of roads on the world map). She won’t be riding through the wilderness, only on roads. When you are in close proximity and scan her :r3: / :rs: she’ll get marked as an Order Member. You will also see a white Zealot Icon on the map when she’s within a few hundred meters of you. Just scan everyone you see riding on a horse in Essexe. The below location is where I found her (east of Brentwood Outpost), you could also wait there and hope for her to ride by after some time.

Hrothgar: Suthsexe – he’s walking along one of the roads of Suthsexe region. It’s random where exactly he is because he’s moving around. Your best bet is to ride along every main road of Suthsexe (you can see the outlines of roads on the world map). He won’t be riding through the wilderness, only on roads. When you are in close proximity and scan him :r3: / :rs: he’ll get marked as an Order Member. You will also see a white Zealot Icon on the map when he’s within a few hundred meters of you. Just scan everyone you see riding on a horse in Suthsexe. The below location is where I found him (west of the town Crawleah), you could also wait there and hope for him to ride by after some time.

Step 3: Unlock Excalibur

Now that you have all 11 Tablets, head to Myrddin’s Cave in Hamtunscire. The location and entrance are shown below.

First there will be a little platforming section. Then you drop into a pool of water, you must dive and swim until you reach a point where you can climb up. There’s another platforming section after that where you must jump over some ruins. At the end of Myrddin’s Cave you find 11 big Stones in a Circle. On each Stone you can enter a Tablet. So enter all 11 Tablets on all 11 Stones now.

Then the Stone with Excalibur will appear between the 11 statues. Draw Excalibur from the Stone to unlock this secret weapon. This also awards you with the Caladfwlch trophy or achievement.

Excalibur is one of the best weapons in the game. Here’s an image of Excalibur and its stats:

And that’s how you get Excalibur in AC Valhalla, enjoy your new weapon.

What’s minimum power level suggested for Zealot fights? I am 271 at the moment. I really want this weapon so I can fight and kill all the alpha animals 🙂

Can defeat them all at level 160 on easy difficulty. Only a few of the highest level ones can be slightly annoying but with the skill that slows time on dodge and dual-wielding daggers + fire strike ability it’s not too bad.

You’ll be alright, I defeated them at level 250.

I had one missing in my inventory I assume from one of the zealots, yet when I went down to get Excalibur there was one tablet already placed in the pillars so could be the same for you

Hrothgar on foot, not on horse so took quite a few hours for him to pass me (I sat myself at various crossroads and left game running after riding around Sussex for ages) have only tried killing him once at level 170 on berserker but may turn down level
