Assassin’s Creed Valhalla The Lost Cauldron Walkthrough

The Lost Cauldron is a Main Quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (ACV). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The Lost Cauldron Quest. It’s part of Jotunheim Chapter 2: The Saga of the Snows.

Find the cauldron’s trail

The quest is automatically started upon finishing Jotunheim Chapter 1, main quest “Mistress of the Iron Wood”. A cutscene will start with Hyrrokin. She will give you two quests to find Aegir’s Cauldron and to find a present for Gunlodr. Track the quest “The Lost Cauldron” for your quest log. This will give you the first quest marker, 50 meters north-west of the Serpent’s Tree viewpoint.

Once you arrive at the location, you will get a search area. Use your raven and zoom in on the green-highlighted area that has some broken trees. Place a waypoint marker and walk over there.

Investigate the ambush site

When using Odin’s Sight ( ) you will see green highlights on the broken trees. Interact with everything you can here. There are 3 objects: a broken tree, a broken cart, a broken wheel on the ground.

Search for the cauldron

The thieves left a trail of destruction. Just follow along the trail of broken trees. You can tell something heavy dragged through here that created a visible path between the broken trees. You can keep scanning with Odin’s sight to see green highlights, showing you the path.

The trail will lead you to an area called Skrymir’s Mitten on the map. It looks like a frozen hut. Below is the location where the trail ends, so if you get lost just skip ahead and go straight there whichever way you want.

Find and take the cauldron

As you approach Skyrmir’s Mitten (snowy hut), you will get an objective marker on its entrance. Squeeze through the fog to enter.

Bug Warning: On Patch 1.04 and below there’s a known bug that causes you to be unable to enter Skyrmir’s Mitten during or after ‘The Lost Cauldron’ quest. If you can’t squeeze through the fog, you have this bug. Update your game to a future patch, there is no other known fix. This bug can still occur after this quest, making it impossible to enter this area again (it works fine for some players but not others). Because it contains two wealth chests, this can make it impossible to get them (and they are needed for 100% completion too). So better collect those wealth items on your first visit to be safe.

Once inside, follow the only path straight ahead until you reach a locked gate. Turn around and straight ahead a new wall opening will have appeared.

Enter this new path, it leads to a room with a single enemy. Assassinate him. Then move the platform in the corner of the room.

With the platform out of the way you can now go through the wall opening behind it. Then slide under some rocks. In the next room is our first wealth chest in here. It’s behind some wooden fence on the right, just melee attack the fence to destroy it.

Exit the room via the door and you’ll reach a large area with lots of enemies. Take out the enemies here first.

Scan with Odin’s Sight ( ) and you’ll see a green highlight up the other wall of the room. That’s where you need to go. But climbing there can be a bit tricky. I could only find one way, see the image below where you need to climb exactly (side of room where you can hold on to the blank stones between the red moss).

Once you’re on that balcony, walk through the two deer-skull totems to reveal the quest item, the Lost Mead Cauldron.

Upon picking up the Cauldron the quest will end. But hold on! Before you leave, remember to grab the 2nd wealth in here. Just to the right of where you picked up the cauldron is a chest above you. Push the stack of movable barrels to the right. Then climb up the barrels and jump up to the rope above. From the rope you can balance over to the wealth chest.

Now you can either fast travel out (quickest) or backtrack the same way you came to exit.
