In Horizon Forbidden West you can customize your character Aloy with Face Paints. You unlock these frequently as quest rewards and from some Hunting Grounds. The Face Paints can be equipped at specific Painter merchants but there are only a few of them in the game. They are in mid-game to late-game areas, hence it’s not immediately obvious in the early game where to get the face paints.
Where to Find Painters to Equip Face Paint
There are 3 Painters in the game where you can equip Face Paints:
Painter #1: Scalding Spear
Painter #2: The Bulwark
Painter #3: Thornmarsh
Simply talk to the Face Paint Merchant and select the Face Paint you want. This only costs 1-10 Metal Shards. It’s a cosmetic-only change and doesn’t affect your stats. This is what the screen looks like where you equip the face paints at the painter merchant:
