The Bravest of the Brave is unlocked when you complete The Golden Castle Main Mission.

Go around the corner to find Maeda Keiji. He wants to hunt Yokai with you, so do so. Follow your marker to the next location and take care of the Yokai there.
Once you have cleared the Yokai Realm head outside towards the battlefield-like area where you once again have to get rid of a bunch of Yokai.
After hunting Yokai together Maeda Keiji wants a duel with you, so beat him up and the mission will succeed.

Use Spear in Mid-Stance and press 
to poke him when he runs towards you. He won’t be able to defend against this. Because the spear has a long reach it’s the easiest weapon to hit him (but the switchglaive with high-stance hits is also great). A very easy boss with this strategy, he won’t even be able to hit you.
