Nioh 2 A Hot-blooded Howl Walkthrough

A Hot-blooded Howl is the 11th side mission in Nioh 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all areas of the A Hot-blooded Howl Side Quest.

A Hot-blooded Howl is unlocked when you complete The Mysterious One Night Castle Main Mission.

Poisonous area

An important information for this mission: destroy the poison-emitting rocks as soon as you see them, you don’t want to deal with poison all the time. Once the mission starts an NPC you can talk to won’t feel like following you so we take on this journey solo, for now at least.

The temple in the middle is optional and its only purpose is to be a shortcut you can unlock from the final area of this mission, so you don’t need to enter it if you don’t want to. Instead, follow the path on the left through the poison clouds and you will reach a Shrine shortly.

From there head down into the caves and you will find a spear-wielding person called “Maeda” being attacked by some Yokai. Help him and he will join you for this mission.

Together with Maeda traverse the caves. Get rid of the enemies and pay attention to the floor panels which will trigger arrows shooting from the wall at you. There’s also a hidden wall to be found in the underground section – from the room with the Waira (big crawling enemies with claws), take the path straight ahead to get to a corridor with two Dweller enemies (ghoulish looking humanoids). On the left side of that corridor is the hidden wall. You can make the wall go away by guessing the right color of gesture (blue, yellow, or red). You get two tries, if you guess wrong the wall will attack, but it can be reset by going back to the Shrine. Behind the hidden wall is a Kodama, but more on Kodamas below.

Backtrack to the room with the Waira and now take the path to the left further down into the caves. When you come to another poison cloud area there’s a ladder leading further down, then a big red door which leads to the mission “boss”. It’s just a Samurai guarded by two smaller minions. Defeat them to finish the mission. Luckily your AI teammate will be there to help and will draw all the attention from the enemies. Just attack them from behind and you won’t have any trouble.

Where to find the Kodama

There is a total of 5 Kodama you can find in this mission. The first one will be left of the temple at the beginning of the level.

The second one will be on the right side of the house. Take the right exit and follow the path which will lead you to a pillar above your starting point of this mission. Halfway there you will find the Kodama.

Once down in the caves, take the stairs to your right in the room with the big crawling Yokai and you will find it there next to an arrow-shooting mechanism.
