The Sunomata Yokai Hunt is the 10th side mission in Nioh 2. This walkthrough will guide you through all areas of the The Sunomata Yokai Hunt Side Quest.
The Sunomata Yokai Hunt is unlocked when you complete The Mysterious One Night Castle Main Mission.

Chase the Kappa
Right next to the first Shrine will be your NPC Partner for this mission- He will be quite helpful throughout the mission. He was mugged by a Kappa which you have to chase. It will outrun you though.
You can’t cross the bridge towards the hot spring, so you have to take the route around it to close the floodgate and drain the water to reach the destination where the kappa went to.
While down in the flood canals, make sure to grab the Shrine there since you won’t find the Kappa right away. When reaching your destination marker a trap encounter will start. Four waves of enemies wait for you here. The last wave has a Tengu (bird enemy), after you defeat him the next section of opens up.
Once those are done, make sure to head back to the Shrine to replenish your stuff if you need it, since your next objective will be a small Dark Realm corrupted area with a couple more enemies you have to take care of. Start by defeating the small Gaki while your AI partner handles the snake enemy. Quickly kill the snake. Then it will only be the third enemy – a “Waira” left, try to attack it from behind while your AI partner takes its attacks.
Once those are dead you can enter the cave where the Kappa is hiding. He won’t fight you and you will be able to talk to him instead. He will thank you for taking care of the enemies and say that he won’t steal anymore.
