Taking Flight is the 4th main story mission in Borderlands 3 (BL3). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Taking Flight Main Quest.
Taking Flight is unlocked when you complete Cult Following.

So Long, Pandora!
Mission Info: At long last, the Vault Map is back in the hands of the Crimson Radiers. Now to find out where it will lead. Probably nothing of significant consequence will happen.
Objectives:
- Give map to Lilith
- Take Vault map from Lilith
- Go to Eridian dig site
- Give map to Tannis
- Loot area while waiting
- Defend Tannis and the map
- Defend Tannis and the map with Lilith
- Let Tannis examine map
- Heda to ship in Raiders’ Drydock
- Drive biofuel rig
- Collect biofuel (by running over stuff) : 0/10
- Get astronav chip
- Drive biofuel rig
- Deliver biofuel
- Return to Raiders’ Drydock
- Take elevator to catwalks
- Fight to Raiders’ Drydock via catwalks

Starting Location: Taking Flight
Give map to Lilith
As soon as you finish Cult Following by talking to Lilith, this mission will start with her asking you to hand her the map. Place it in her outstretched hand with the hologram on it.
Take Vault map from Lilith
Lilith tries to charge the map, but she is unable to. Take it back from her.
Go to Eridian dig site
Lilith explains that the only person who would know how to get the map charged now would be Patricia Tannis, and tasks you with heading over to a dig site to meet her. Head over to this marked area North-East from where you are now.
Head over to the marked area and Tannis will come out of her shack.
Give map to Tannis
After a quick introduction, Tannis will ask you to again hand over the map.
Loot Area While Waiting
Tannis says she will take the map and do an examination of it, and in the meantime suggests you loot the area, which you would likely have done without prior prompting.
Defend Tannis and the Map
After a bit of dialogue a number of enemies will start spawning into the area, and you have to defend yourself from them. They primarily spawn in from the North and North-West sides of the area. The objective says to defend Tannis, but she is in her shed and the enemies just attack you, so you just need to stay in the area and kill them.

After a few waves Lilith will show up and help you defend against the continually spawning enemies.
Let Tannis Examine Map
After a couple more waves Tannis will come out of her shack. She’ll explain the map has been damaged, and they can only make out one vault on the planet Promethia. They head over to where there is a ship waiting, and ask you to meet them there.
Head to Ship in Raiders’ Drydock
This is the area right in the middle of the map, you can warp out to your vehicle by the entrance to the Eridian Mine then head up there.
Drive Biofuel Rig
Ellie needs some help getting the final ship preparations done, and tasks you with driving the Biofuel Rig for her. Using this you need to drive around the area and run down any living things you come across to obtain biofuel for the ship.
Collect Biofuel (by running over stuff): 0/10
With the rig you need to run over a total of 10 enemies to collect the required biofuel. There will be some places marked on your map that you can head to. If you manage to destroy the vehicle you can head back to the Drydock area to get another.
Get Astronav Chip
After you get the 10 required roadkills Lilith tells you to head over to get the astronav chip. Head over to the small tunnel with the red flags above to enter the area where you can find the chip.
Head inside to the main room, where you’ll find a load of enemies to kill. Once they’re all dealt with you can find the astronav chip in a console on the West side of the room.
Drive Biofuel Rig
Head out the North side of the room, but don’t jump down. There is a Typhon Log on the edge of the path you can pick up, then if you continue down the narrow path along the cliff there is a chest just before you drop down to where you’d have left the vehicle. Grab the chest contents then get in the rig again.
Deliver Biofuel
Drive the rig back up to the marked location at the Drydock to drop off the fuel. Park the vehicle in the marked spot to drop it off.
Return to Raiders’ Drydock
Head back to the front door to trigger a cutscene.
Take Elevator to Catwalks
Once the cutscene is over Ellie tells you to head up to the catwalk while she tries to get the door open. Head over to the elevator out the other side of the building then use it to get upstairs.
Fight to Raiders’ Drydock via Catwalks
You then have to fight your way through a number of COV enemies to get across. Once you’re to the other side drop down below to get to the main area where Lilith is.
Kill COV Attacking Lilith
Once you’re outside you have to take out all the enemies in the area so that Lilith can get away. Like before with Tannis you just need to focus on staying alive and taking out all the enemies.
Revive Lilith
Once all the enemies are dealt with, head over to Lilith and hold 
to revive her.
Talk to Ellie
Head toward the now open door and speak to Ellie. This ends the mission, and awards you with money and a purple pistol.
This finishes Taking Flight main mission in Borderlands 3. Now the next quest Sanctuary becomes available.
