Borderlands 3 Beneath the Meridian Walkthrough

Beneath the Meridian is the 10th main story mission in Borderlands 3 (BL3). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Beneath the Meridian Main Quest.

Beneath the Meridian is unlocked when you complete Atlas, At Last.

Mission Info: We’ve assembled our first Vault Key, and it’s time to open that Vault. Veteran Vault Hunter Maya is along for the ride!

Starting Location: Beneath the Meridian

Go to Sanctuary

This mission starts as soon as you take the Vault Key fragment from Rhys, so head back to Sanctuary when you’re ready.

Give Vault Key Fragment to Tannis

Head over to Tannis’ lab one more time to give her the final piece of the Vault Key.

Go to Sanctuary Bridge

While waiting for Tannis to put the Vault Key back together, Lilith calls everyone up to the bridge. Head up there.

Go to Neon Arterial

Rhys explains the Vault is actually beneath the middle of the city, head down to the Merdian Metroplex area so you can then go to the location the Vault is located at.

Eliminate Maliwan Squad

On the way there Rhys informs you that the entrance has been fortified with Maliwan soldiers to try and stop your entrance. Kill them all so that you can get inside.

Talk to Zer0

Once all the enemies are defeated, head over and talk to Zer0 near the forcefield.

Once he drops the forcefield, head forward and enter the Neon Arterial area.

Meet Maya

Maya warps in just ahead of you, head over and talk to her.

Drive Project DD

Ellie spawns in a vehicle for the two of you to head in with, get in the drivers seat.

Drive to Apollyon Station

Drive yourself all the way forward to the objective marker, taking out anything in your path.

Destroy Enemy Vehicles

You’ll reach a point where you’ll have a roadblock on the path, and be required to take out enemy vehicles to progress. You need to take out all of the enemy vehicles and the two enemies in the tower before you can proceed.

Drive Maya to Blast Door

Drive over to the marked spot in the ground and Maya will blast a hole in the doors for you, allowing you to proceed further.

Destroy Enemy Vehicles

After a couple of jumps you’ll reach another roadblock. Take out all the vehicles and enemies in towers again so that you can proceed. Watch out for the mines in this area while driving around, if you go near them they activate and start following you around until they explode.

Drive Maya to Blast Door

Once all the enemies are dead head over to the marked spot again so Maya can get you through the door.

Drive into the tunnel and to the marked spot and you will automatically exit the vehicle.

Enter Apollyon Station

Stop at the vending machines if you need, then head inside the building. Go through the tunnel, then out into the main area.

Kill all the enemies as you progress towards the objective. Once you get close and take out enough enemies, Maya will blow the door open allowing you to proceed.

Find Tunnel to Vault

Once inside you’ll basically just be clearing out more enemies as you’re heading to the Vault entrance. There will be a couple badass enemies in here, but nothing you can’t handle. Before going through the narrow hallway into the second large room you can find a red chest to loot.

You’ll eventually reach a train platform, and a number of enemies will spawn out of trains. Kill them all and continue forward.

Find Vault

After fighting your way through the station you’ll reach a large hole in the wall leading underground. Head inside to go down to the Vault entrance.

You will now have your first run in with the Vault Guardian enemies. These all have a primary life bar of the shield type, so if you have shock weapons they make very quick work of them. Continue making your way forward through the groups of them towards the objective.

After making your way through all the enemies you’ll reach a travel point, head through it.

In the next area keep heading toward the objective.

Place Vault Key

Once you catch up to Maya, put the Vault Key in the marked spot.

Defeat the Rampager

The Rampager is the guardian of this vault, and you need to kill it to get your rewards from inside. It likes running up to you and doing various slam attacks. If you’re close to it it will obviously damage you, but if you’re farther away some of it’s attack will send out projectiles in lines away from it. After a certain amount of damage done to it it will drop into a stun and be bent over on the ground, where you can then pump as much damage into it as you can while it’s not moving.

After about a third of it’s health is down it will drop on the ground and gain a shield, then will go into it’s second phase where it flips it’s second head on (weird) and then does more ranged attacks at you. After a while it will still stun like before, so just keep avoiding it’s attacks and pumping damage into it.

After it gets down to two thirds of it’s health gone it will go into it’s third phase, and will start jumping around the room and tossing out a large number of fireballs in your direction and at the ground in it’s jump path. It will eventually come down to the ground and will be able to be stunned just like before, so keep putting damage into it until it finally goes down and spews loot all over the room for you.

Loot Vault

Head into the newly opened Vault, and grab the marked item to get a new ability for yourself.

Break Eridium Deposit

You are now able to break the purple Eridium crystals that you find around the game world, including the ones located in this Vault. Break them all to get some more loot, then when you’re ready break the large one at the center of the room.

Access Lodestar

Once the Eridium is broken away, interact with the item that was previously encased in it.

Return to Maya

Once you’re finished in this Vault, head back out to Maya.

Talk to Ava

After some… stuff happens, talk to Ava.

Return to Sanctuary

If you’re done in this area, faster travel back to Sanctuary.

Talk to Lilith

Head up to the bridge and to see the rest of the crew.

Optional: Talk to Ava

Head over and speak to Ava first to see how she’s doing.

Talk to Lilith

Head back over to Lilith now, and after taking a bit of flak from the Calypso Twins, you’ll finish the mission and get your reward.

This finishes Beneath the Meridian main mission in Borderlands 3. Now the next quest Hammerlocked becomes available.
