In Crimson Desert you can unlock a flying Dragon Mount, called Darkstar. The dragon can be used to fly everywhere quickly, he can shoot projectiles and breathe fire to defeat enemies. Unlocking the dragon also makes open world exploration much faster to clean up collectibles and challenges, which is very useful when going for 100% completion.
How to Unlock Dragon in Crimson Desert
To unlock the Dragon you simply need to beat Main Quest: Whispers in the Wind in Story Chapter 11. The dragon is an automatic story unlock, you don’t need to do any side content for it.
The unfortunate news is that this is very late in the game, approximately 150 hours playtime if focusing on the story, close to the end. The game has 12 chapters and the quest that unlocks the dragon is late in Chapter 11. So you pretty much have to beat the story. Still, the dragon will be extremely helpful for open world cleanup after this point.
You can then call the Dragon at any time by selecting him from the character wheel as your mount (hold D-Pad Up).
The dragon flies very fast. You can also clear enemy strongholds with him. He does have a health bar which will be displayed as a purple bar in the bottom left of the screen.
