In Crimson Desert you can adopt pets. The game never tells you about this and it’s a hidden gameplay feature. Once recruited, pets automatically follow you and loot defeated enemies and other items such as ores. You need to recruit 30 unique pets for a Life Challenge, which in turn is needed for the Natural Collector trophy/achievement.
To recruit a pet you must pet the same animal until you reach 100 trust with it. You find animals (dogs, cats) around all major towns. Simply interact with the animal to pet it. In the top left corner a “Trust” progress will appear. Each time you pet the animal you get 5 trust. You can pet them 5 times per day for 25 trust per day. Pet the same animal again every in-game day until you reach 100 trust. This will take a minimum of 4 in-game days. You can rest at campfires and cooking pots to skip time by 12 hours to speed it up.
You can also drop meat from your inventory to dogs. Grilled Meat gives +20 trust and can be done 3 times per day for 60 trust total (regular meat only gives +10 trust). So you can get 85 trust per day, 25 from petting and 60 from grilled meat.
The animals are always in the same general area of the town where they live, but they can move around a little and don’t stay stationary. If an animal doesn’t show up, fast travel back and forth and it should spawn in, or come back at day/night time.
After reaching 100 trust with an animal, interact with it again to get the “Take In” prompt. Then the animal becomes your permanent pet and follows you around. You can see all pets from the Inventory menu under the “Pets” tab. You can summon/unsommon pets from the inventory.
