In Crimson Desert, on the world map you will often see big white circles with a question mark, labeled as “Mysterious Energy“. You must be in the map’s “All” or “Environment” tab to see them (not in the Quests/Factions tab). They also appear on the minimap when nearby.
In these areas you always find one of the following:
- Fast Travel Points (called Abyss Nexus): Use Guiding Light with L1+R1 (LB+RB) to reflect light from your sword, it will highlight the fast travel points with a blue glow. They look like circular floor plates. Stand on the floor plates for a few seconds to activate the fast travel points. The fast travel points then get marked by a blue icon when you zoom in on the map. This is obviously very useful to get around the map faster, so it’s always well worth investigating the white “?” icons.
- Puzzles (especially Secret Places & Ancient Ruins): Sometimes you don’t get a simple fast travel point but a puzzle or a hard-to-reach “Secret Place”. These count as Exploration Challenges and also unlock fast travel points and Abyss Artifacts. They require a bit more work than just standing on a floor plate, but are well worth collecting. You need all of them for trophies/achievements anyway. If you can’t solve a puzzle yet don’t worry, some of them will be easier later when you have more skills. You can always come back at any time.
So generally speaking, the “?” are fast travel points, sometimes gated behind a puzzle.
