Fish Fillet comes from catching a fish (can swim after it and catch with bare hands), then clean the caged fish from the inventory. You can also get all gatherables knowledge automatically by beating the boss Praevus the Ancient, located in Crimson Desert region. This boss gives an item called Memory of Ancient Nature, consuming it from the inventory immediately gives all Gatherables knowledge, completing this requirement.

Challenge 5: Acquire Timber

  • How to Unlock: Pick up Sealed Abyss Artifact in Crimson Desert, on the side of the road southeast of Well of Patience.

  • Challenge: Obtain 5 pieces each of normal/fine/flawless timber.
  • How to Complete: Buy a Logging Axe from the Provisioner’s Shop and use it to fell trees to get Timber. Using an Axe will give Normal and Fine timber.
To obtain Flawless timber, you will either need to obtain a Chainsaw, or purchasing it late in the game. To obtain the Chainsaw, you’ll need to first progress to Chapter 12 to have access to the research facility at Dewhaven Keep in Deleysia. The second level research Electricity – Movement Conversion Mechanism Research awards you the ability to send an expedition to Steelspike Armory to produce 1x chainsaw per expedition. Once you have the Chainsaw, it is used in a similar manner to the Knuckledrill but to cut down trees, where you receive Normal and Flawless Timber.

If you don’t want to or forget to obtain the Chainsaw, some vendors post story seem to sell Flawless Timber, such as the Provisioner’s Shop in Timberton > Delesyia.

  • Reward: 1x Abyss Artifact, 1x Blessing of the Forest I

  • Challenge: Cook 3 Dishes using the Field Cooking Tool, and 3 meals that can only be made with a special cooking tool.
  • How to Complete: Field Cooking Tools correspond to bonefires that can be found throughout the game world, and allow you to cook basic meals in the categories Grilled Cooking, Field Grill Cooking, and Field Pot Cooking. Most basic recipes you have or single ingredient dishes can be cooked like this.

Special Cooking Tools correspond to the pot and dish that are set into stone counters you can find in the game world, such as inside certain houses in cities or at the Greymane Camp in Pailune after you move there. These allow you to cook meals in the categories Special Iron Griddle Cooking, Special Pot Cooking, and Feasts. These include all the most complicated dishes in the game, which require the most ingredients but have much higher bonus effects.

If you aren’t going out of your way to pick up recipes throughout the game you may not have recipes to use, but you can improvise recipes to make the dish. One of the most basic  you can make is Grilled Meat Patties that uses 3x each of any Meat, Vegetable, Fruit, along with 3x Eggs and 3x Cooking Oil. If you improvise the recipe 3 times you also learn it permanently.
  • Reward: 1x Abyss Artifact, 1x Gourmet II

Challenge 9: Pets

  • How to Unlock: Pick up Sealed Abyss Artifact in Delesyia, on the side of the road directly east of Delesyia South Gate.

  • Challenge: Tame 30 unique pets.
  • How to Complete: To tame pets you must pet them until you reach 100 trust with them. You can pet dogs and cats in towns repeatedly each day for up to 25 trust per day. You can also drop certain food or material items for both to increase trust to 100 in one day. Dogs will pick up dropped bones for 25 trust at a time (bones are obtained from hunting animals). You can drop 3 food items in a row, so for dogs can get 75 trust by dropping 3 bones and another 25 trust from petting them to reach 100 trust in one day. Cats will pick up grilled fish and grilled meat for 20 trust at a time. If you can’t find an animal again, fast travel back and forth until they spawn in. After you obtained your first pet you can view the list of recruited pets under Inventory > Pets. There’s a limit of 30 pets in the inventory.
Note this requirement specifies unique pets. You can have multiple of the same breed of cat or dog, but they must look different. For example a Jindo that is white and a Jindo that is brown count as 2, but 2 brown Jindos don’t count. If you tame a duplicate pet you can release them from the Pets section of the inventory. It’s recommended to keep one of each unique pet until you fill your inventory, as you can’t otherwise track which you have tamed.
  • Reward: 1x Abyss Artifact, 1x Companionship III

Challenge 10: The Fruit of Patience

  • How to Unlock: Pick up Sealed Abyss Artifact in Delesyia, at intersection south of Coast Windmill Watchtower.

  • Reward: 1x Abyss Artifact, 1x Blessing of Nature III

  • Challenge: Acquire all rare gatherable knowledge (8)
  • How to Complete: There are 8 rare gatherables – Skyroot, Palmar Leaf, Brimstone, Stalactite, Platinum, Mercury, Golden Apple, Rubber. You can get all gatherables knowledge automatically by beating the boss Praevus the Ancient, located in Crimson Desert region. This boss gives an item called Memory of Ancient Nature, consuming it from the inventory immediately gives all Gatherables knowledge, completing this requirement.

  • Reward: 1x Abyss Artifact, 1x Faded Abyss Artifact, 1x Fortune III

Challenge 12: Cave Exploration Log

  • How to Unlock: Pick up Sealed Abyss Artifact in Pailune, along road northeast of Whisperleaf Fortress.

  • Challenge: Acquire 100 Caves knowledge.

    Hey.

FYI you can give food to dogs around town for easy trust point.

Go to your inventory hold □ to drop (discard).

My recommend food to give are raw meat and grilled meat (which powerpyx recommended for healing food)

    Hope this help.

Nice thank you, that makes that a lot quicker to do with dogs, can max trust in two days instead of 4.

Even faster for dogs is to drop bones. I do small bones, but I’m sure they’re all the same. They give 25 trust per bone so you can finish in a single sitting + the daily 25 from petting them.

Does the pets challenge count retroactively?
Or should I collect the artifact asap to get working on this challenge?
    Thanks for your hard work.

It was retroactive for me, when I picked it up it showed 5/30 already.

Challenge 4: Tiny Citizens of Grasslands

Finding all the insects is too difficult. The game developers did not test collecting them.

Please, update the Tame pets challenge. Dogs can gain 100% trust if you throw bones instead of grilled meat. Any bone will do +25.

Tested and works. For cats, any fish caught I think its +25 aswell, except Golden fish which gives 100%.

Challenge 7 the field cooking tools used are the hanging pots over bonfires and pan frying anything over a bonfire. There are 2 special tools, a special griddle and special pot. These are the big cooking items embedded into stone counter tops. Their recipes fall under their own sub menus in the cooking menu. Once you get one of these recipes, find the corresponding tool out in the world and have enough of the ingredients to make 3 of them. I used the special griddle tool in the Nectarwood Apiary (southwest of Scholastone) to make pan fried rice cakes (seafood). There’s an Abyss Nexus fast travel right across the road from it to the east. The seafood seahorse was collected by doing the saltwater fishing mission in Vellua

I’m having trouble with challenge 12: it’s bugged for me, it’s not counting the caves, is anyone else having this problem?

It’s not counting as you may have already got the knowledge from a book or collectible etc. therefore these ones are already counted on your challenge. If the cave shows up on your map(even without a check mark) you have that knowledge, it’s the unfounded unmarked locations you need to visit to gain the extra knowledge. Hope that helps

    Hi

Buying Flawless Timber doesnt count for the challenge, you have to grab through logging.
