There are 117 Memento Collectible Note Locations in Dying Light 2. Finding all Collectible Notes (called Mementos in-game) unlocks the Archivist trophy or achievement.
The first Memento in the Prologue is highly missable! There is no way to go back to the Prologue area and it cannot be replayed in Co-Op either. Aside from this 1 Memento you can get everything else via Co-Op if you miss anything story-related. Make sure you grab the Prologue Collectibles or else it will lock you out of the “Archivist” trophy.
It is highly recommended to frequently use Survival Sense to mark nearby collectibles with a golden dot. Especially when the story or side quests require you to enter buildings or tunnels, always scan for collectibles. Some story areas become inaccessible or hard to get back to later, then the only way to get those collectibles is via Co-Op. There are also Side Quest exclusive Collectibles, see the Collectible Roadmap below for the semi-missable Side Quests (can still replay them in Co-Op if missed).
You can keep track of your Collectible Progress under the “Collectables Menu”. Each item has a unique name so you can compare your findings against the list here to see what you’re missing. There is no New Game+ which means you need all Collectibles on a single save file.
Collectible Roadmap (All Missables)
Missable Collectibles:
The following Collectible is the only “true” missable, if you forget to pick it up you must start a new game and recollect everything again from scratch.
- PROLOGUE: Memento #1: Newspaper Article – October 11th, 2020 – only available during Prologue, can’t revisit this area and can’t replay it in co-op
Semi-Missable Collectibles:
If you miss these, they become inaccessible in your game, but can still grab them in someone else’s Co-Op session by using “Find Game” Co-Op Search. Everything else can still be found after the story or in free-roam.
- BEFORE MAIN QUEST 9: REVOLUTION / INTO THE DARK: Memento #9: GRE report – Quartermaster Pike #1 + Memento #10: GRE report – Quartermaster Pike #2 + Memento #11: GRE report – Quartermaster Pike #3 – Side Quest: The Ball is in Your Court, this quest becomes inaccessible after Main Quest 9: Revolution / Into the Dark
- BEFORE MAIN QUEST 9: REVOLUTION / INTO THE DARK: Make sure you talk to the first Carrier at Quarry’s End, this is a requirement to trigger the Carriers Questline that contains Tape #28 – The City Classifieds – The Cable Guy & Memento #12: The Carriers Guild Assault. The first carrier becomes inaccessible after Main Quest 9: Revolution / Into the Dark which would lock you out of the entire questline. See Starting Location: Carriers.
- AFTER MAIN QUEST 11: A PLACE TO CALL HOME: Memento #75: Avery’s Map – the side quest “To Kill or Not To Kill” is there right away for some players, but for others it only spawns after the story or never spawns at all (potentially a bug). Check for it after every main quest. If it never spawns in your game, use the ‘Find Game’ Co-Op Search to join someone who has it.
- DURING MAIN QUEST 16: BROADCAST: Memento #57: Chris’s Dog Tag – only accessible during Main Quest 16: Broadcast
- DURING MAIN QUEST 21: NOW OR NEVER: Tape #61: Waltz’s Chamber Recording #1, Tape #62: Waltz’s Chamber Recording #2, Tape #63: Waltz’s Chamber Recording #3 – only accessible during Main Quest 21: Now or Never

Prologue – Pilgrim’s Path
MISSABLE WARNING: The first Prologue Collectible is highly missable!
The prologue cannot be replayed in Co-Op and there’s no New Game+, so if you miss the first collectible it will lock you out of the trophy. There is no in-game map during the prologue, for this section the objective will be listed instead. If you miss the first collectible during Prologue, either quit the game immediately and hope it didn’t make a new autosave, or start a New Game if you progressed too far. The second Collectible is automatically picked up and the third Collectible has an alternate spawn in the open world later.

Hello PowerPyx,
Since some of these collectibles are locked behind side quests how is it possible that you can get it in one playthrough since you cant unlock all side quests in one run as you have to assign all the districts to one faction for another trophy
Doesnt seem possible to unlock all trophies in one run no matter what you do hoping you can explain further
PowerPyx says
Through joining someone else’s session in Co-Op.
The Collectibles in this game are built around playing Co-Op.
Luay says
@PP Is this True? Some collectibles, and the trophy, will be locked behind “co-op only” collectibles?
PowerPyx says
What I’ve seen for a few faction-quest collectibles is that if you side with other faction the collectible will just sit in the room where the quest start would be. So it spawns in place of the quest giver. I haven’t tested this for ALL of them yet, but I have seen this happen on a few (keep in mind: 467 Collectibles total and some have alternate spawns, so this will take a while). When the devs said 500h, that’s a good estimate how long it will take to complete this collectible guide due to the complexity involved.
E.g. in the Survivors variant you do a quest and get collectible as reward, in Peacekeepers variant the collectible sits on a shelf in the same room where the quest start in Survivors variant was (or vice versa, sometimes Peacekeepers give collectible quest and it just sits there in same spot for Survivors). Example: Muddy Grounds district – Concert Ticket for Silencio.
Right now my theory is that faction-specific collectibles just spawn in the same place regardless but you pick them up instead of getting them from the quest. Alternatively, gotta do them via Co-Op in someone else’s game. The “Find Game” option shows you exactly what quest someone is on and what their city alignment is like so it’s easy to find players who sided with the faction you need.
The main difficulty with Collectibles:
– No New Game+, so need them on one save. No Manual Saves, only one Autosave. If anything bugs out you have a problem.
– Siding with one faction cancels out all quests of the other faction (collectibles tied to faction quest will take a while to test for alternate spawns. If no alternate spawn: must do them in co-op through “Find Game” option)
– Semi-missable collectibles in story areas, some areas become inaccessible or are very hard to reach later, so would need to replay some quests in co-op if you missed them (“Find Game” option)
– General difficulty navigating the game world due to the “vertical” design (game world is built towards the sky, not flat ground, can’t just run from A to B, gotta climb skyscrapers and glide to other buildings from rooftop etc)
– Sheer amount of Collectibles
– Choices affecting what story quests you get, so many different paths and outcomes that need testing. I might run around for 200h looking for a Collectible that doesn’t exist in my game because of story choices I made (or rather didn’t make). Will likely take the help of the community to find the final few.
– Figuring out what exactly only spawns during certain story missions and what can still be found through free-roam later

Ok, nvm, that was just loot highlighted as collectibles

Could you keep us updated as to how many mementos in a set you’re missing? It would help us to help you find the collectibles that you’re missing without having to painstakingly scroll through each one you’ve found and see if we have one that you don’t.

Inside the VNC Tower located in Garrison when you climb it during Broadcast mission and you reach an area with a lot of infected and the big guy with the hammer and blow-up infected there will be a room that you pick the lock for it this collectable is inside on a table. I really hope that you can come back to this tower because I missed a dog tag in basement.
The collectable in this floor is,

Newspaper Article – June 9th, 2022
Tyler says
You can most likely get the dog tag. The elevator goes down there. However, I tried to work my way down to the floor you are talking about from the roof. Made it pretty far then I hit an impassable doorway that you can only move the wood from the other side. Looks like this newspaper is gone for good, unless there’s a way to go from bottom up, which I don’t think is possible since the elevator got stuck in the main quest. Really frustrating
Tyler says
Update; you can definitely get back to this collectible after the mission is finished. Finally figured it out. Not sure about the dog tags in basement tho I already got it
PlayStation4Life says
Yes managed to get the dog tag by joining someone else. Which messed up my game. During the Missing in Action mission the door became locked. I know why the door was locked, since I missed Chris’s dog tag. I joined a random got the tag and left the match. Apparently if you join some else’s mission to pick up missed collectables you better finish it or otherwise that location will become locked even if you have already completed it solo. That what happened in my case. The game bug out on me because I keep joining people, either I get disconnected or they are not doing the mission. To the point that the game put me back at the end of Broadcast Mission on top of the tower Solo. Lost all my progress up after that point. Meaning that I lost all my progress after that mission because I completed the Shoe mission and a lot of side quest and captured metro and towers etc. The weird thing is all my collectables are the same I only lost story and side mission progress along with some world progress. I even posted about this in PowerPyx’s Wall of Valor: Missing In Action guide, I thought that door being locked means I missed something or I had to do something specific when I looked up the guide for the mission. But nope, you need to finish any mission that you joined someone else to pick missed collectibles.
Glad that you were able to find it. Post how did you do it so others can use it especially if they already completed the mission.
Gurt says
How did you end up getting it?
EdgarTheBaboon says
How can i get to this collectible after ive finished the game
Tyler says
When doing The Deserter quest, at the very end you either kill the bounty hunters or let them deal with the father. When the use survivor sense on the door that had Bart and Andy in it, it *looks* like there’s a collectible in it behind a locked door. Singular yellow flashing item in an empty room with a kid. Will be interesting to note if someone finds a way in.

We believe it is not available until after the story, but only if you side with Frank during Main Quest 16: Broadcast.

“To Kill or Not to Kill” quest not found. I’m currently after finishing the story, I selected Frank in the broadcast, and I selected X13 to help Lawan and have the city bombed.
Is it possible that I have to sacrifice Lawan to get the quest?
Archavia says
I’m not too sure, I never had it on my PK playthrough and the only time any of us had it was post-game after assigning to Frank. So the assumption is that’s the requirement but not certain.
Tyler says
I gave the broadcast tower to Frank, picked survivors all the way, and picked the save everyone ending. Quest is not in the canteen. Mad annoying

From how people are talking for the to kill or not to kill quest. Im thinking it is based on the water tower choice and if you let jack and joe leave in peace while siding with sophie
Archavia says
I did both those decisions on my Survivor playthrough and never had the quest appear. I’m more inclined to believe it’s just glitchy than it is tied to any decisions in Old Villedor. Especially given the quest itself has no relation or interaction with anyone from Old Villedor.

Avery’s Map, gotten during the side quest To Kill or not to Kill
GPAP360 says
I think i finally figured how the “To Kill or Not to Kill” and “Rats in the House” missions works. At least i finally did both on my second game for the collectibles.
So, on this second run i arrived to the second city and ONLY FOCUSED on the main missions “A Place To Call Home”, “Orders” and “Observatory”. Nothing more.
When you get about half way on “Observatory” you will get a call for the Secondary mission “Renegades” AND THIS MISSION IN MISSABLE. Just go to some places, kill enemies and free some NPC.
After that i completed the main mission “Observatory” and “Welcome on Board” started.
Then i get inside the ship of main mission “Welcome on Board” quest to talk whit Carrier 2 for the Carriers quest AND THEN “Rats in the House” mission was available on the “fish bar”. Just talk to the bartender to start it, GET INTO THE METRO STATION AND ACTIVE IT, talk to the bartender and finish quest.
Then i did a fast travel to Baazar and the ! icon of “To Kill or Not to Kill” was in the bar.
I think the most important steps are:
1- DO NOT active Metro under “fish bar” when you first arrive.
2- Focus ONLY on main mission till you get to “Observatory”, and COMPLETE the Renegade mission when it appear when you are going to the Observatory.
3- Complete “Observatory” and when “Welcome on Board” check if you have the “Rats in the House quest” and COMPLETE IT.
4- Fast travel to Baazar, fast travel to “fish bar” and “To Kill or Not to Kill” will be available
Hope it helps to other players to get the collectible
BattleExile says
All of that works apart from the step of having to do the Renegade’s side mission as well – that can be missed out if you wish(although you should still do it anyway before Observatory as it will disapear after that)
JoshK says
3- Complete “Observatory” and when “Welcome on Board” check if you have the “Rats in the House quest” and COMPLETE IT.
You have to talk to the carrier lady standing there to trigger Rats in the House at Fisheye. Don’t know why though as both quests are not really related in any way. Must have been some unintended bugs or anything.
skaa says
That works fine for me. Thanks. Some details:
After step 3 you cannot Fast travel to Baazar, but you can travel to Main Termnal Staion in Old Villedor. After that you should go to Bazaar and activate The Holy Trinity metro station (there will no any mini-games like “find and start all generators” etc. so you just need to get down to the subway to activate fast travel ability for this location).
Right after that you can follow step 4.
I’did the trick and the old man was spawned right to the bartender.

For the “Chris’s Dog Tag” collectible. I missed this during the mission and thought I’d have to join a co-op to get it. However, if you speak with Leon during the mission and agree to give the letter to his wife that gives you “The Last Will” side quest. complete this side quest and be sure to give the letter to the wife when given the option and not remain silent. When you do this, she will task you with a new mission to collect all the dog tags for the fallen soldiers from the squad and informs you that she already got them all from the soldiers at the tower. Because of this, I was given the Chris’s Dog Tag. So glad too so that I don’t need to join a random Co-Op now to collect it. Figured I’d share with others in case they forget to loot the body.

How can you enter inside the Renegade Stronghold again to pick the:
Memento #107: The Kill Order
Memento #108: Infected Playing Card – Ace of Clubs – Howler
I only can if i die and then respawn inside the building. The zone is full of enemies and the doors of the:
Tape #61: Waltz’s Chamber Recording #1
Tape #62: Waltz’s Chamber Recording #2
Tape #63: Waltz’s Chamber Recording #3
Are opened so are you that they are missable?
Archavia says
After the game you should still be able to access the Renegade Stronghold to get the Mementos via the bridge. For me however the gates to Waltz’s chamber were still locked so considered them semi-missable.
GPAP360 says
Well, as i say the brigde is up so i can’t get inside again, and the Renegade Stronghold is full of enemies.
Only way to pick 107, 108 is dying to respawn inside. And as i say, both doors for 61, 62 and 63 can be opened.
It seems like a bug i think…

It’s location depends on the route you take

Joe says
Look above at my post it explains the 2 locations
SirVeiga says
I´m having the same issue.
Mark Westside says
There are two additional semi-missable mementos: #66 Lawan’s death list and #104 The Ambush Tactic
If you give control over the transmitter to Juan during main quest 16 Broadcast, you won’t get the main quest 18 Nightrunners to access Church of Saint John of God.
Another way to get inside the church is during side quest 54 No Mercy. This becomes accessible during main quest 19 Veronika. But if you went for Juan’s route you might not get the chance to help Jack Matt deal with one of the Butcher’s officers (or if you would get the chance but ignore it).
So with this choices, it is not possible to enter Church of Saint John of God as all entrances are blocked.
Inside would be mementos #104 The Ambush Tactic and probably #66 Lawan’s death list as it isn’t in her home at the Fish Eye.
Brx says

For Memento #75: Avery’s Map
Here is how we triggered the “To Kill or Not to Kill” side quest.
1. Do not clear Downtown Thugs Bandit Camp and Do not clear Metro Newalls Crossing.
2. Do main quest’s up to Welcome on Board…That way you unlock Rats in the House quest in The Fish Eye and Carrier’s quests.
3. Complete Rats in the House, Carrier’s, Carriers 1, 2, 3.
4. Paul shows up in the Fish Eye and has the quest.
5. Complete the quest and you find it when searching during the quest.
That was how we triggered the side quest. I don’t know if it matters but we were on a pro-peacekeepers playthrough.
Thanks for your helpful guides BTW.
ShiGGzi says
Unfortunately has not worked for me, this was the natural progression I made and it never appeared. I am now on the Veronika quest and its still not shown up – with exception to being pro peacekeeper.
Something I have noticed is the image above showing the quest giver, there is a lantern on the wall behind him. My game looks completely different with a wall of license plates and a dart board behind where Paul would be sat.
Also, you can see he has a suitcase with him on the other chair which suggests some kinda migration or something. It makes me think that something you do in old villador triggers him to be there but I have no idea beyond that.
This single issue has destroyed my interest and enjoyment in platting this game, I’m still going but every half or or so I have this realisation I may be wasting a lot of time.
Ancientwolf13 says
The Rats in the House quest seems change the spot where Paul spawns for the To Kill or Not to Kill quest. It goes from having License Plates on the wall to having a lamp on the wall after the quest most likely because the metro is also powering the Fish Eye.
Also Avery in the To Kill or Not to Kill has his spawn point in the upper area of the Downtown Bandit camp so capturing it before the quest seems to block him being able to spawn preventing the quest.
The Carriers quest line also has you deliver a letter to a guy in the Fish Eye so not sure if that also updates the status of the Fish Eye location, but doing the completion of Carriers III seemed to have Paul spawn after turning it in in my game. Just like the person above mentioned.
Rass says
ShiGGzi wrote he/she did it the same way, the post before explained, than he/she should have the same look of the cantine because he/she did Rats in the house already.
For me Kill or not to kill didn´t show up too until now.
I´ve cleared the the bandit camp before rats in the house, maybe this is the reason.
I didn´t do the Curier quest line until now, maybe there is a chance it will show up neverless.
Big mysterium around this quest ;)
Rass says
I saw a YT walkthough about To kill or not to kill and there where license plates and a dart board in the background of Paul when the player talked to him.
I´ve did rats in the house and have the same decoration, wallplates etc.
I think the picture above is before rats in the house, didn´t remeber if it looked like that.
Rass says
On the other hand the first comment th the YT Vis is:
That’s interesting. So because I already liberated the bandit camp that Avery is in, I technically killed all of his men. Because of that, I wasn’t able to make a deal with Avery at all and he attacked me.
So the quest should work neverless you raided the camp or not.

Memento 66 Lawan’s Deathlist guide isn’t entirely accurate mate.
If you can’t find it in the church and it isn’t spawning in her room in the Fish Eye Canteen, you need to played the mission Assasination. It will be in her room during the mission after you speak to her

Not showing up for me either 🙁

I found it! It’s actually on the opposite side, walk out of the room and there is another room with a chess board on top. The collectible is next to the chess board! I think the latest patch moved it.

How do I get to Kurt’s safehouse for memento #97 without the quest?
The nearby windmill is not tall enough and you can’t even reach the top of the mill itself after activating it.
I can climb inside the cathedral and there is a rope that looks like going up to the safehouse, but the winch is secured in a cage I can’t open.
So how can I get the third page of a comic book?

AVERY’S MAP (Kill or be killed mission).
I can confirm that if you did not receive the mission ‘kill or be killed’ you can actually pick up ‘Avery’s Map’ in the open world.
*Go to Pine Windmill (Downtown).
> Stand facing South West off the off the building edge. Look and you will see two billboards, one of a women and underneath a man.
> Look downwards and right of the billboards and you will see a brownish tree.
> Move down to the tree, then you will see a natural resource location right next to the tree (honey, feathers, resin, flowers etc.)
> Go side the orange building right behind the resource location.
> Look for the room at the back of it with a tv, couch has a coffee table OR even at this point use your enhanced vision to locate the collectible.
> Their on the coffee table is ‘AVERY’S MAP’.

“The quest disappears after Main Quest 9: Revolution / Into the Dark, if you haven’t done it before then the collectible becomes inaccessible in your game.”
Said of quest Carriers X. While I understand the intention of this sentence, it is a bit misleading, as the actual Carriers questline doesn’t unlock til after MQ 9. In fact you might not unlock it til MQ 14(?) Welcome on Board if you trigger it by talking to the Carrier on the PK ship.

How do you find the additional 46 mementos (new 163 total) added with the 1.6 version update?
Joe says
Has there been changes to no.46 last time I played it this momento was there b4 the substation was activated now its not,
Does the station need to be active now ??
Joe says
Momento no.46 update you need to do the broadcast mission before this will appear DO NOT ACTIVATE the substation before you get this momento or it will disappear

I was able to find Avery’s Map without activating the sidequest. I was able to find the apartment at the location marked in the image, and found it on a table.
