Starting Location: Hammer and Forge

Go to the town of Komatsu Forge

Follow your waypoint to Komatsu Forge. When you arrive, you can see that something is up.

Find a way into Komatsu Forge

Looks like Mongols torched the outskirts, and left a pack of dogs behind to play with you. Climb up the rocks near the wall to gain entry into Komatsu Forge.

Search Komatsu Forge for Yuna and Taka

Run around until you hear the sounds of a fight.

Investigate the nearby battle

Follow the sounds and you’ll find Yuna being attacked by a number of Mongols.

Defeat the Mongols

This will begin a long running battle as Yuna makes her way through town fighting Mongols. If at any time she falls during the fight, you only have about 40 seconds to revive her before she dies, causing the mission to fail.

Speak with Yuna

Once all the Mongols are dead, follow the waypoint to Yuna and speak with her.

Follow Yuna

Yuna will lead you to her brother Taka who is working in the forge.

Find Yukio

To assist his work, Taka needs his apprentice, Yukio. Follow the waypoint and you’ll find him being held hostage by a bunch of Mongols.

Help Yukio

Eliminate all the Mongols in the area with stealth, or else if you accidentally alert the Mongols they will rush to kill Yukio and you’ll see a skull & crossbones icon indicating the Mongol who poses the hostage an immediate threat, with the shield icon indicating your hostage. But all is not lost. The Mongol who will attack the hostage takes about 10 seconds to work himself up to it once he gets there, usually giving you enough time to jump him while he is distracted. Don’t be caught snoozing though, because if there are any other Mongols still left in the area, one of them will randomly head for the hostage until all of the Mongols are dead or the hostage is.

Note that you will not be able to rescue Yukio until all enemies in the vicinity are dealt with.

Help Yukio Rescue his wife

When you rescue Yukio, he says that he also needs you to rescue his wife first. Yukio will lead you to his wife, leaving you to dispatch any unsuspecting Mongols along the way.

Rescue the peasants

When you eventually catch up with Yukio’s wife, they will be running from Mongols! Sneak in behind the group, and kill as many as you can through assassination in order to keep the peasants safe as long as possible. Clean up with your sword and/0r a standoff if you don’t make it all the way through them undetected.

Speak with the peasants

Once there are no more Mongols in the immediate area, speak to the peasants.

Lead the peasants back to the forge

Take the long way around. Instead of taking the direct route through town, go along the river, or along the alley beside the cliff, all the way to the other side of town then go around the hill pathway to reach the forge. You shouldn’t run into a single Mongol on the way back.

Speak with Taka

Once Taka and his family are safe in the forge, talk with Taka to continue.

Find Yuna

Yuna has gone across the river to rescue a family that was cut off.  Hurry to the waypoint to find her.

Free the hostages

Yuna is observing the Mongols from hiding, waiting for the right moment to strike. The mongols are interrogating their hostages. Sneak over and clear out all the Mongols around the perimeter with stealth before heading into the house.

Once all of the Mongols are dead, rescue the hostages.

Lead the peasants back to the forge

This is uneventful, simply lead the peasants back the way you came.

Speak with Taka

Now that Yuna and all the other villagers are safe in the forge, you can continue. Gear up, then approach Taka when ready to trigger the climax of the mission. Taka will light the forge, and every Mongol in range will be coming to investigate / murder you.

Defend the forge

You will have to endure wave after wave of Mongols, usually with archers and brutes mixed into each wave. As near as I could count, there were about five waves of 5-6 Mongols each, and they get progressively better armor as they go. Near the end, they’ll also start throwing dogs into the mix, just to make it even more irritating. Again, be sure to revive Yuna as soon as possible if she goes down, because you might not get a second chance with all these enemies around. Similarly if any Mongols break through your line, they will head for the peasants inside the forge and try to kill them, ending the mission.

Defeat the Mongol warlord

The last wave will be a Mongol warlord in golden armor, along with a number of archers. Try to take them out before you engage the warlord, just to make your life simpler. The warlord fight is nothing special, but he does take a lot of damage. Use the water stance to best effect, and follow up each broken guard with as many combo hits as you can string together.

Kill the remaining Mongols

If you didn’t manage to kill all the Mongols before the warlord died, the last objective is to mop up any that remain with Yuna’s help. Once the last one is dead, a cinematic will play to end the mission.

This finishes the Hammer and Forge main quest in Ghost of Tsushima.
