Introduction

Welcome to the Ghost of Tsushima – Iki Island DLC Trophy Guide! This guide includes both DLC trophy lists, which are split between “Story DLC” and “Exploration DLC”. Iki Island is the new DLC region in Ghost of Tsushima. You must have reached Region 2: Toyotama in the main game to access it. After installing the DLC you get a new Journal Entry in the pause menu and can track the first quest from there. Iki Island features 9 Main Tales, 7 Side Tales, 2 Mythic Tales, and various new Collectibles. It’s a relatively small region, about one third the size of a main game region (about a tenth of the main game map). 3-4 hours will go into the main story, 3 hours for side tales, 2 hours for Collectibles and miscellaneous trophies. With the PS5 Director’s Cut the DLC is preinstalled.

Importing Save from PS4 to PS5 Version & Automatically unlocking all Trophies

If you’ve already played the PS4 version, you can import your save into the PS5 version and it will automatically unlock all trophies, except the trophy for using photo mode (which only takes 1 second to do). Legends Mode trophies and New Game+ trophy automatically unlock too. You can import the save from the title screen either via USB or via PS+ Cloud. Everything carries over from the PS4 version and you get an instant PS5 platinum. However, it is NOT possible to import from PS5 > PS4 (only works from PS4 > PS5). If you are a first time player and haven’t played through the main game at all, refer to the Ghost of Tsushima (Main Game) Trophy Guide & Roadmap.

Step 1: Finish the Story [3-4 Hours]

Start by playing through the Iki Island story. The story consists of 9 Main Tales and takes about 3-4 hours total including all dialogues and cutscenes. There’s nothing to look out for, just have fun and feel free to do any Collectibles and Side Tales you see along the way. You can still do everything after the story. Nothing is missable and there are no difficulty-related trophies.

After installing the Iki Island DLC and loading your save, there should be a popup saying that new content is available. Then you press Options-Button :opt: > Journal > Tales of Iki and track the first quest “Journey into the Past” from there. You must have reached Region 2: Toyotama in the main game to access this first quest! If you don’t get the new quest, try rebooting your game and it should fix it.

Step 2: Conquer All 4 Enemy Camps to Unfog the entire Map [30 Minutes]

After the story you’ll want to conquer the 4 Enemy Camps for trophy “The Butcher Redeemed” to drive out the Mongol invaders. This will also unfog the map completely, which marks all Collectibles and Tales as “?” question marks. This makes it easier to find your way around and saves time in the next step.

Step 3: Collectibles & Tales [5 Hours]

As with the main game, you can use the guiding wind to lead you to the Collectibles. On the world map press :right: and track the Collectible Type. You can buy new wind upgrades under Techniques > Samurai > Exploration. Some Collectibles require wearing the Traveler’s Attire to be able to track them (bought from merchants, e.g. this one, should already have it if you finished the main game).

Here are all the completion-tasks you need for trophies:

  • 7 Side Tales
  • 2 Mythic Tales
  • 6 Unwritten Tales
  • 9 Animal Sanctuaries
  • 8 Archery Challenges
  • 5 Memories of Your Father
  • 3 Haiku
  • 2 Hot Springs (Onsen)
  • 1 Shinto Shrine
  • 4 Bamboo Strikes

Ghost of Tsushima – Iki Island: Story DLC Trophy Guide

Main Game Trophy Guide:

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Trophy Guide & Roadmap

Out of the Past
Survive the Eagle’s medicine and bid farewell to a new friend.
Automatic story-related trophy, cannot be missed. Awarded for finishing the main story on Iki Island. There are 9 main tales in total:

  1. Journey Into the Past
  2. A Lost Friend
  3. The Eagle’s Cry
  4. A Raider’s Return
  5. Jin From Yarikawa
  6. The Lightning in the Storm
  7. Massacre at Kidafure Village
  8. The Blessing of Death
  9. Epilogue: Last Words
Friend to All Raiders
Complete all Tales of Iki.
For this you must complete all 9 Main Tales, 7 Side Tales, 2 Mythic Tales on Iki Island.

Completing the Unwritten Tales is NOT required for this particular trophy.

It’s best to play through the Main Tales first, then you’ll have access to everything. Next you should conquer the 4 enemy outposts (see trophy “The Butcher Redeemed“) which unfogs the map and marks collectibles / side tales with “?” question mark icons. The only ones that don’t show on the map are A Mother’s Law & A Helping Hand. So if you’re missing something it’s likely those two. In your Journal you can see which ones you’ve completed ( :opt: > Journal > Tales of Iki).

Click the links below for their locations:

Main Tales:

  1. Journey Into the Past
  2. A Lost Friend
  3. The Eagle’s Cry
  4. A Raider’s Return
  5. Jin From Yarikawa
  6. The Lightning in the Storm
  7. Massacre at Kidafure Village
  8. The Blessing of Death
  9. Epilogue: Last Words

Side Tales:

  1. The Ghost of Iki Island
  2. Caretakers of the Eagle
  3. Troubled Waters
  4. The Impact of Loss
  5. Bloodletting
  6. A Mother’s Law
  7. A Helping Hand

Mythic Tales:

  1. The Legend of Black Hand Riku
  2. The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai
The Benefit of All Beings
Build your Legend on Iki Island to earn the title Legacy Redeemer.
For this you must reach the maximum legend status in the Iki Island region. That’s the “name” shown in the top right corner of the map.

The following activities increase your legend status:

  1. Complete the main storyline of Iki Island (Journal > Tales of Iki)
  2. Complete Side Tales & Mythic Tales (see trophy “Friend to All Raiders” above)
  3. Conquer the 4 enemy camps (see trophy “The Butcher Redeemed” below)
  4. Complete the 5 Memories of Your Father (see trophy “Elegy for Kazumasa”)
  5. Complete the 2 Lighthouses (not absolutely necessary, can skip them)

You don’t need 100% completion for it. For example, I got it before playing any Mythic Tales or Side Tales just by doing everything else. While working on the other trophies this will come automatically so don’t even worry about it!

The Butcher Redeemed
Liberate Iki Island by defeating the Eagle and driving the invaders from Mongol territory.
For this you need to do two things:

  1. Finish the Iki Island main story (9 Tales – Trophy: Out of the Past).
  2. Conquer the 4 Enemy Camps by defeating all enemies in them.

Here are the 4 Enemy Camp Locations:

Treasures of the Past
Complete all Mythic Tales on Iki Island.
There are only 2 Mythic Tales on Iki Island. Below are links to their locations and quest walkthrough. The first one requires a bit of story progress, so it’s best to focus on the story first and do these later. They can still be done after the story.

Mythic Tales:

  1. The Legend of Black Hand Riku
  2. The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai
Elegy for Kazumasa
Complete all Memories of Your Father.
There are 5 “Memories of Your Father”. They are a new type of Collectible and can be tracked with the wind when wearing Traveler’s Attire (on Map Screen press :right: > Undiscovered Memories of Your Father). Below is a guide for all their locations.

» Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island – All Memories of Your Father Locations

Common Courtesy
Discover and complete all unwritten tales on Iki Island.
This trophy is unlocked by helping people around Iki Island, who are not marked as Tales and also aren’t tracked as quests in the Journal.

Ghost of Tsushima – Iki Island: Exploration DLC Trophy Guide

Monkey See
Embody the spirit of the monkey on Saruiwa.

For this you must go to Mount Saruiwa at the south-west edge of the map (where a Monkey Sanctuary is). There are 3 Monkey Statues made from stone that you must interact with. They are all on side paths of the mountain. When doing the correct interaction at each statue it will result in a short cutscene, that’s how you know you did it correctly. You must also complete the Monkey Sanctuary at the top of the mountain. It doesn’t matter what Outfit/Armor you’re wearing (the Monkey Armor / Sarugami Armor isn’t required).

Here’s the location of Mountain Saruiwa where all the Monkey Statues are found:

Monkey Statue #1: Monkey with Ears Covered
Play Flute in front of it (swipe Touchpad left). It’s up the side path to the left before squeezing through a gap. Can climb up the ledges there. Doesn’t matter which flute song you play.

Monkey Statue #2: Monkey with Eyes Covered
Throw Smoke Bomb in front of it ( :r2: + to select –> :r1: to throw). After squeezing through a gap it’s down the right side, can climb down some ledges there.

Monkey Statue #3: Monkey with Mouth Covered
Bow down in front of it (swipe Touchpad Down). From the 2nd statue, climb back up to the main path where you came from. Go across the Bamboo that’s sitting between the cliffs, jump down behind it and press :r2: to use your grappling hook. Grapple all the way down here, using the other Grappling Hooks, Ledges, and Ropes. At the bottom you’ll get to a pool of water with this Monkey Statue in the corner. Swipe Touchpad down to bow at the statue.

Saruiwa Monkey Sanctuary
This is at the very top of the mountain. Climb up and use the :r2: interaction point to play flute for the Monkeys. Then the trophy will unlock. If you already did this, you can skip this step and the trophy should unlock after the third Monkey Statue.

Pride of Ishikawa
Achieve bronze or higher on all Archery Challenges.
There are 8 Archery Challenges. They are a new type of Collectible on Iki Island. They have 3 tiers depending on how quickly you finish the Challenge (gold, silver, bronze), but for the trophy you only need to reach bronze in each. After arriving on Iki Island you can buy the Exploration Technique “Wind of Concentration” to track these ( :opt: > Techniques > Samurai > Exploration > Wind of Concentration). Then on the world map you can press :right: > Wind of Concentration and it will lead you to them. You will see a dotted line on the map pointing towards the next one and can swipe the touchpad up to see a gust of wind blowing in the direction of the nearest one. Below is a guide for all their locations.

» Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island – All Archery Challenge Locations

Chiyoko’s Song
Complete all Animal Sanctuaries.
There are 9 Animal Sanctuaries. They are a new type of Collectible on Iki Island. After arriving on Iki Island you can buy the Exploration Technique “Wind of Harmony” to track these ( :opt: > Techniques > Samurai > Exploration > Wind of Harmony). Then on the world map you can press :right: > Wind of Harmony and it will lead you to them. You will see a dotted line on the map pointing towards the next one and can swipe the touchpad up to see a gust of wind blowing in the direction of the nearest one. Below is a guide for all their locations.

» Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island – All Animal Sanctuary Locations

A Few Splinters
Complete all bokken duels at the Hidden Cove Tournament.

First, you need to finish the 5th Iki Island main quest “Jin From Yarikawa“. After this you’ll unlock the Hidden Cove Tournament. It will be marked by white swords on the map at Fune’s Refuge. Here’s the location:

Talk to the man standing in front of the ring. You now must defeat 4 opponents in bokken duels (wooden training sword). The first 3 are sitting around the tournament ring, they have a swords icon above their head and you can press :r2: to talk to them which starts the duel. After defeating the first 3 opponents, the 4th one appears automatically.

The goal is to hit the opponent 5 times before they hit you 5 times. Each of them uses a different technique and you must counter them differently.

  • Exiled Monk: When he does a kick press :circle: :l-down: to dodge back and follow up with Moon Stance :triangle: :square: . The Moon Stance heavy attack will do a kick which stuns him, following up with a quick attack will always hit after that. Basically copying his moves here.
  • Brutal Raider: Hold :l1: to block his normal attacks or tap it to deflect them, followed by :square: quick slash. When he does red glowing attacks press :circle: :l-right: at the last second to sidestep and then follow up with :square: quick slash. What stance you use doesn’t matter.
  • Murderous Merchant: For the first 3 hits you’ll want to deflect her hits by pressing :l1: just before getting hit, then follow up with a :square: quick slash. After the first 3 hits she’ll start being defensive. Attack her once or twice, then do a :x: :square: jump attack to hit her from above.
  • Crimson Fisherman: Hold :l1: to block and follow up with :square: quick slashes.
Well-Rounded Warrior
Complete all Haiku, Onsen, Shinto Shrines, and Bamboo Strikes on Iki Island.
Find the following Collectibles on Iki Island (click links below for locations):

  • 3 Haiku
  • 2 Hot Springs (Onsen)
  • 1 Shinto Shrine
  • 4 Bamboo Strikes

After capturing the 4 enemy camps (trophy “The Butcher Redeemed” they will be marked as “?” question marks on the world map. You can also use the guiding wind by pressing :right: on the world map and it will show a white dotted line on the map to the nearest collectible, or you can swipe up on the touchpad for the wind the blow in the direction of the nearest one.

Blood on Your Hands
Purchase an item from the Crimson Dye Merchant and obtain a dye for your Sakai Horse Armor.

There are two dye merchants on Iki Island – the “Crimson Dye Merchant” who sells items and dye for your outfits – and the “Horse Armor Merchant” who gives you dye for a new unlockable Horse Armor. First you must go through some steps to unlock each merchant.

Crimson Dye Merchant:

  • Complete The Hidden Cove Tournament which takes place in Fugu’s Refuge and requires you to win 4 Duels (see trophy “A Few Splinters“).
  • After winning the Tournament, the Crimson Dye Merchant will be marked on the map south-east of Fort Sakai. You must buy an item from him, for example a mask.

Horse Armor Merchant:

  • Complete Mythic Tale “The Legacy of Kazumasa Sakai“. This will unlock the Horse Armor Merchant at the south-east edge of the map.
  • To get the first Horse Armor Dye you must find 6 Sakai Banners. Equip the Traveler’s Attire and on the World Map press :right: > Undiscovered Sakai Banner to track their locations (white dotted line on the map, or swipe touchpad up for the wind to point you to the nearest one). There are 30 Sakai Banners in total but you only need 6.
  • After finding 6 Sakai Banners you unlock the first Horse Armor Dye. But to redeem it you must talk to the Horse Dye Merchant (map location below).

After buying an item from the Crimson Dye Merchant and getting the first Horse Armor Dye from the other merchant, you will earn the trophy. There’s no need to equip the items.

Great work as always. Does the PS5 version have a separate trophy list via Directors Cut

The PS5 version has its own trophy stack, but the trophy requirements are the same. As written at the top of the Roadmap, you can import your PS4 save and it will automatically unlock all trophies + platinum instantly. So basically, you get a 2nd platinum (PS4 platinum + PS5 platinum).

Uh, Iki Island DLC can’t be purchased separately, only as a part of Director’s Cut?

Correct, you need to buy the following item on PlayStation Store: “Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR’S CUT Upgrade”. It’s $19,99 in the USA region store and includes the Iki Island DLC according to the product page of PSN Store.

Can’t say I’m interested in playing more formulaic, repetitive open world content after achieving the Platinum trophy in July 2021.
The biggest problem I have though is Sony being greedy by charging £9/$10 for the PS5 upgrade and yet again charging £69.99 for a PS5 game when I just purchased Ghost of Tsushima for £26.50 in May 2021. Final Fantasy VII Remake had a free PS5 upgrade and only charged for the DLC (even if Square Enix also charged £69.99 for the PS5 version).

The directors cut is just dlc to the main game. The ps5 version doesn’t have any other version than directors cut so it’s basically just 2 trophy lists.

Embody the spirit of the monkey on Saruiwa.

You have to honor three hidden statues of monkeys.
    1) play a flute by the statue with its ears covered
    2) use the smoke bomb by the statue with its eyes covered
    3) have to bow the statue with its mouth covered (you have to jump after swing in the sea, statue is on the rock)

I guess those unwritten tales is referring to hidden quest? I received one quest called “A Helping Hand” on thunderhead cliffs (bottom of father memories location) with a basket logo to point out the quest location on Sly Hunters Forest. Maybe this trophy is to complete all these type of side quest?

    • PowerPyx says

      August 20, 2021 at 12:28 pm

That one counts as a Side Tale and isn’t needed for the Unwritten Tales. To confirm this, I started a new game and ran straight for the 6 Unwritten Tales without doing anything else and it unlocked the trophy.

I think the 3 shrines are dedicated to Bloodbourne, Shadow of the Colossus and God of War. Like Blood stained shrine you can see crew feathers and it refers to the hunter. I spent half an hour trying to figure something out I gave up and closed the game and now I have an idea it might have to do with a specific skin you have to wear? I dunno I will try when I wake up.

If this is true then we have to choose from play twice for the same extra content (PS5 then PS4) or Save some time by auto pop but not able to enjoy PS5 features while getting the trophies. It is a hard decision but I guess I will choose the former one

The problem is I only have 2/6 trophies for the Legends Mode ? when I started the Legends it sent me back to the beginning of each character’s tutorial and back to rank 5. What’s funny is that Self-Actualized popped up to reach rank 20 with any role! The one for the raid popped up too!

I’d try reimporting the Legends Mode save again. Just delete all Director’s Cut saves in the PS5 settings and redo it.
Perhaps even reinstall the entire game and then reimport it. Maybe something went wrong during the trophy set install and reinstall could help. There could also be something wrong with the save itself, if you have a different one to try that might help. Also try importing it through USB and through PS+ Cloud to see if it makes any difference.

So can you confirm to get 100% trophy completion on both PS4 & PS5 with only 1 playthrough it’s best to just do everything on the PS4 version first then import your save to PS5 version?

    Thanks

You need to 100% the PS4 version first, then autopop everything in the PS5 version.
The reason being that you cannot import your PS5 save to PS4.
It’s one way only (from last gen to current gen).

    Hello,
I’ve unlocked the Common Courtesy trophy.
I basically talked to everyone on the island for a number of times.

And here is my theory of the requirements for this trophy.
It requires all random encounters PLUS the dialogue with characters from side tales after finishing side tales PLUS all random mongol kidnap/mongol vs raider. The reason is that all of the above triggers a semi cutscene (with minor dialogue) and put the picture into letterbox. I don’t have a confirm, but this is at least how I got mine to pop. I do have some screenshots and map locations of worth noting “encounters.” However, the UI is not set to English. If you think that would still be helpful in anyway, I’d be glad to send them over.

      Screenshots would definitely help!
Can you send them to mail@powerpyx.com? Or alternatively via Twitter @PowerPyx, or you can upload to imgur and put the links here. I’ll credit you in the guide of course.
Also want to give a shoutout to Black_Revive who earned the trophy in the PS4 version and sent me some info, basically confirming what you wrote. I’m currently going all over the map and talking to everyone, without a tracker it’s quite messy to figure out what actually counts or doesn’t count as an Unwritten Tale. I’ll add all possibly related things to the Trophy Guide shortly and then will narrow it down later.

Since I now got the trophy list for PS4 and PS5 version. Could you confirm if I want to 100% on both, can I only play IKI island on PS5 version and get all trophies, and then is there any way to cross the save back to PS4 version and auto pop those trophies?

So far I found 4 open world unmarked quests for the “common courtesy” trophy. 1 involves helping a beekeeper, second clearing a forest of mongols for a spirit(?),third saving people from drowning and the forth one clrearing stage 9 of story legends which i’m trying to do right now. I will reach out with ss’s of locations after i get the trophy

    Can someone help ?

Have you tried closing the game and opening it again? Friend of mine had a bug where the new Iki Island quest didn’t show in quest log and a simple reboot fixed that.
Otherwise, try reinstalling the PS5 version completely. This is definitely not normal. The trophies should all autopop as soon as you load into the game (where you gain control of your character and can walk around – not in the title screen).
Try importing through USB and stay offline (disabled internet), also try importing via PS+ cloud and stay online.

Nvm, just do the last mission ‘Fires of Yarikawa’ again if you’ve already done all legends missions before to unlock the ‘Sit’ interaction with Uta. Dont need to replay all of them again, just the last one.

    • PowerPyx says

      August 21, 2021 at 10:46 am

I never booted up Legends Mode on PS5 and got the trophy just fine. Only imported save from PS4 and it let me tell her the full tale, didn’t have to replay anything in Legends.
Some others here wrote they had to replay the last tale, not sure if there’s a PS4 specific thing. Try replaying the last tale just to make sure, then talk to her again.

Are you on PS4 or PS5?
On PS5 you don’t need to replay anything in Legends. I imported my PS4 save to PS5 and it let me tell the tale instantly. I never even booted up Legends Mode on PS5 at any point. Not sure if that’s different on PS4, I’ve heard the same you said from someone else who used the PS4 version.

strange, PS5. I wasn’t getting that right response from the girl asking about the story in mission 9, so I ran through real quick bronze and next time I got the right dialog.

    # 1 for unwritten tales. Even though I have done that on PS4 long time ago – note that I transferred my file to PS5 now- but when I talked with here Jin told her nothing! So I went back and played the first 3 stories. I said let’s try and go back to her so yes he told her and I got the trophy which was the last tale I needed!

Legends Mode character progressions isn’t server-based. It’s stored on your local offline save game.

So I went back through all 5 of the first ones (for unwritten tales) and all of them had no more interactions EXCEPT the Captains Grave, I bowed at it and pink flowers circled me.. and about.. 5 mins later while I was at Buddha Footprint the trophy popped as I was running in circles. So I would add on the guide to make sure you BOW at Caps Grave.

Getting Gold shouldn’t be needed, wasn’t for me. I think it might not have registered correctly the first time or the trophy pop was very delayed. On PS4 I also did the archery challenge last and the trophy took 30 seconds to pop.
Gives the same cutscene with a Bronze score.

  38. MyAdversariesCRY says

    August 21, 2021 at 10:48 am

Interesting, well like I said I was literally just running in circles trying to find the drowning people again and it popped, so maybe there’s just a huge delay then? ?‍♀️ Because the only thing I did different within that hr of trying to get the trophy to pop was bow. Anyway, thanks for the guide, my dude.

DLC Mythic Tales aren’t needed for the trophy. None of the DLC stuff is.
It must’ve glitched on save transfer. Try reinstalling the game, delete the saves of the PS5 version and reimport the PS4 saves.

I am in a unknown space but here is my issue. I played and 100% platinum PS4 copy of the game. main game only, no DLCs or NewGame+. I don’t have a save file, I had deleted everything, not thinking I would need it.

Can I play PS4 version on PS5, start a new game, but don’t finish it. just play for 1 Chapter , then import to PS5 and will my PS+ account which shows I have 100% already. push it to the PS5 copy and it will auto-pop?

Or will I need to play all over again?

Trying to think the best way to get all the trophies without having to play the game each version again ( PS4 and PS5 Directors Cut )
