The River Children is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of The River Children Side Quest.
The River Children is unlocked when you’ve found it in the open world.
Side Tale: The River Children
Act: – Act 2

Quest Giver: Shino
Requirement: Find the quest start in the open world.
Rewards: Minor Legend Increase + Minor Melee Charm + 14 Linen
Mission Info: Is a woman crying nearby? She might need help.
Objectives:
- Travel to a fishing hut to look into rumors

Starting Location: The River Children
Travel to a fishing hut to look into rumors
To start this quest you will need to travel to a hut located where the marker on the map above is. Once you see the marker in the hut head inside and you will see a woman hunched over on her knees. Walk up to her and speak to her.
Investigate the docks
Head out of the hut and follow the waypoint. At the waypoint there will be half eaten fish to examine.
From the fish look on the dock slightly north for another clue to examine, it’s a bloody trail.
Investigate the riverbank
Once you examined both clues you will need head to the waypoint on a small piece of land in the riverbank and examine the shore.
Track the Kappa
Immediately after finding the tracks coming to shore you will be able to examine another set of tracks alongside it. After looking at the tracks it will show you which direction the kappa went, head to the next little island you will see more tracks along the shore. Continue along the shore following the tracks and stop at each investigatable spot to continue being led forward. Follow them all the way to the mossy rock and on the shore opposite side the mossy rock is a body washed up on shore.
Examine the remains
Once you get close enough to the body on the shore your objective will change to this. Walk up and interact with the body to complete this objective.
Investigate the riverbank
From the body inland a bit will be another spot for you to examine.
Track the Kappa
As soon as you examine the tracks for the above objective you will have to walk two feet forward and investigate the tracks again to have a direction to follow. Follow the path in the orange grass with the footprints in it.
Along the path you will get another spot to investigate. Continue down this path and across the muddy road continuing forward. Follow the path between the big rocks and around the bend ahead. Continue down the path until you get to a small wooden plank bridge.
Defeat the bandits
Once you get to the wooden plank you will see a group of bandits and have the option to Stand Off. Defeat the 5 bandits to complete this minor objective.
Search the bandits
Walk over to the defeated bandits and search them all and on the last one you will find the Flute.
Speak with Shino
Head back towards the hut with the flute and Shino will be where the waypoint is depending on the time of day in-game. Once you speak to her a cutscene will start ending this mission.
This finishes The River Children quest in Ghost of Tsushima.
