Journey Into the Past is a main tale in Ghost of Tsushima – Iki Island DLC Expansion. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of Journey Into the Past Main Quest.
Journey Into the Past is unlocked once you have reached the second Region of Tsushuma Island, Toyotama. It’s the first quest in the Iki Island DLC Expansion. After installing the DLC and load your save, you should get a popup on the right side of the screen notifying you that new content has been unlocked. You can then track this quest from the Journal under “Tales of Iki”. If it’s not there and you meet all other requirements, try rebooting the game and that should fix it.
Main Tale: Journey Into the Past
Region: Toyotama (second main Island Region)
Quest Giver: None
Requirement: reached Toyotama (Region 2)
Rewards: access to Iki Island
Mission Info: Something disturbing is happening to the settlement. I should investigate and learn more about the cause.
Objectives:
- Investigate the Settlement
- Investigate the Mongol presence
- Defeat the Mongols
- Interrogate the Mongol Shaman
- Speak with the Boatman to sail for Iki Island
Starting Location: Journey Into the Past
Investigate the Settlement
Jin learns about strange occurrences in southern Toyotama and decides to see for himself what reasons might have caused them.
When you arrive at the village, try to talk to a villager.
Sadly, it seem like they have lost their minds and are unable to talk.
Investigate the Mongol presence
Scan the surroundings for clues. You want to check the Yurt as well as the small shrine next to it. Both are located a bit further towards the shoreline.
Defeat the Mongols
After doing so, a small cutscene will play and some Mongols appear. A new type of enemy will be introduced – the Shaman. His tribal songs boosts his allies, so taking him out should be a priority in all upcoming fights, whenever there is a chance. Usually, they will be located a bit to the side and don’t actively partake in the fight, unless you approach them.
Once he is taken care of, the rest of the fight is a bit easier, but this small group doesn’t pose much of a threat to our seasoned Samurai anyhow.
Interrogate the Mongol Shaman
Talk to the Shaman, once you’ve taken out all the enemies. He will talk about the aforementioned name, The Eagle, which is their leader, residing on nearby Iki Island.
Speak with the Boatman to sail for Iki Island
After a cutscene with Yuna, approach the boat to actually travel to Iki Island. The boat is located behind the Yurt, on the right side.
On your way to Iki, you’ll end up in a storm and your boat will capsize. Eventually, Jin will emerge from the water and finds himself at the shore of the Island.
Make your way through the bones and through the old smuggling hideout.
Upon exiting, we’ll need to clear some planks blocking our path. Hold and once the visual bar has filled, also to clear the way.
After taking in the scenery and descending to the bottom, we are free to explore this new island at our leisure.
This finishes Journey Into the Past quest in Ghost of Tsushima Iki Island.
