Servant of the People (Kenji Tale 1 of 3) is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Servant of the People Side Quest.
Side Tale: Servant of the People
Act: 1
Region: Izuhara
Quest Giver: Kenji in Aoi Village, Tsutsu
Requirement: by finding it in the open world
Rewards: Minor Legend Increase, Minor Defence Charm, +4 Leather
Mission Info: (Kenji Tale 1 of 3). The farm here looks like it’s had some trouble. I should make sure the people there are all right.
Objectives:
- Speak with Kenji
- Follow Kenji
- Speak with Kenji
- Defeat the Mongols
- Speak with the Captive
Starting Location: Servant of the People
Speak with Kenji
Reach Aoi Village, south of Tsutsu. Kenji is awaiting you here, by a thatched roof building.
Follow Kenji
After speaking with him, follow him to the nearby beach.
Speak with Kenji
Once Kenji stops, approach him to speak with him and then hide in the barrel.
Defeat the Mongols
After a while, you’ll automatically come out of the barrel. Rid the location of Mongols, most of which carry a shield, perfect for the Water Stance.
Speak with the Captive
After defeating all Mongols, approach the hostage to speak with him. After a brief cutscene with Kenji, this side tale will end.
This finishes the Servant of the People quest in Ghost of Tsushima.

I just finished act 1 and I tried to go back to complete kenji tale’s first quest but it’s gone. Now I only have the option of doing the second kenji tale. Did I just miss out on the first quest?
I have the same fear however I think its on a farmland that is over run at the end of the first act. First thing tomorrow I’m going to liberate it and see if that sorts it out. Will let you know
