Friends in Passing (Ishikawa Tale 8 of 9) is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Friends in Passing Side Quest.
Friends in Passing is unlocked when you’ve completed The Terror of Otsuna.
Side Tale: Friends in Passing
Act: 3
Region: Kamiagata
Quest Giver: Ishikawa at Jogaku Temple, Jogaku
Requirement: having completed The Terror of Otsuna and Wolves at the Gates
Rewards: Minor Legend Increase, Minor Utility Charm, Half Bow Dye
Mission Info: (Ishikawa Tale 8 of 9). Sensei Ishikawa is planning to shelter at a peasant’s house nearby. I’ll stay with her so I can speak with the sensei about the hunt for Tomoe.
Objectives:
- Speak with Ishikawa
- Join Ishikawa’s Hunt for Tomoe in Eastern Jogaku
- Investigate the Wrecked Mongol Convoy
- Accompany Matsu while she Checks her Traps
- Speak with Matsu
- Return with Matsu to her Home
- Find Ishikawa at Jokagu Temple
- Speak with Ishikawa
Starting Location: Jogaku Temple
Speak with Ishikawa
Fast travel to Jogaku Temple and approach Sensei Ishikawa who is waiting for you by the gate to the temple.
Join Ishikawa’s Hunt for Tomoe in Eastern Jogaku
Now head to your new tale marker. As you approach the location, a new objective will appear.
Investigate the Wrecked Mongol Convoy
At your new location, investigate the body killed by arrows, the burnt convoy, and the Japanese arrows on the tree by the wheeled cart. After collecting your evidence, you’ll meet a new character, Matsu.
Accompany Matsu while she checks her Traps
Your job now is to follow your new friend as she checks her three animal traps.
Speak with Matsu
After reaching the third and final trap, approach Matsu to speak with her.
Return with Matsu to her Home
After the brief cutscene, mount your horse and accompany Matus back to her home. As you ride back to Matsu’s place, you’ll have to face some Mongols blocking the road. Most of them are spearmen, so using the Wind Stance is a good idea here.
Find Ishikawa at Jokagu Temple
Now fast travel back to Jokagu Temple to inform Ishikawa on your findings.
Speak with Ishikawa
To speak with Ishikawa, approach the bowyer. He’s standing right there.
