Ghost of Tsushima Ghosts in the Fog Walkthrough

Ghosts in the Fog (Norio Tale 3 of 9) is a side tale in Ghost of Tsushima. This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives of the Ghosts in the Fog Side Quest.

Ghosts in the Fog is unlocked when you’ve completed Three Actions, Three Illusions.

Mission Info: (Norio Tale 3 of 9). The monks of Cedar Temple are all safe, but a Mongol counterattack is imminent. It’s up to Norio and I to defend the town.

Meet Norio in Akashima Village

Press to speak with Norio. This is A Norio Tale 3 of 9.

Get on a rooftop in the village center

Head to the middle of the village, and climb up onto the roof of the armor shop on the right.

Survey the village’s defensive options

Once on the roof, take part in the Survey scene. Check the swamp, temple, the entrance and the incense burners.

Speak with Norio

Speak with Norio in the centre of the village.

Prepare the incense burners

There are 6 incense burners (which looks like cauldrons with sticks coming out of them) to light around the village, which you do by going up to them and pressing :r2:. Thankfully, they are shown with yellow icons so it isn’t difficult to search for them all.

Find a place to wait for the Mongols

You’ll now get another marker near the edge of a village, where you’ll have to wait for the Mongols. Climb the ladder into a house on stilts and the next section will start.

Defeat the Mongols

Straight away, press to aerial assassinate the Mongol below you. You’ll have to defeat a whole swathe of Mongols, upwards of 20, of each variety. You can ignite the incense to help you, either by pressing next to it or shooting it with a fire arrow, although to be honest it’s largely useless. It releases a puff of black smoke (so basically acts like a smoke bomb) but it only lasts a couple of seconds and worst of all, the enemies don’t seem to spawn anywhere near them so you have to kite them over to each burner and use it. It’s honestly easier to just kill them normally and use your own smoke bombs.

Hurry to the temple

When they’re all dead, head over to the temple.

Help Norio defeat the Mongols

There will be a few stragglers left, mostly shieldmen, so deal with them quickly.

Speak with Norio

He’s looking over a dead body.
