Talk to Dutch
Eagle Flies rides into camp, looking for Dutch to help them take the fight to the oil fields. Rains Fall tries to stop them, but his son will not be swayed. Arthur says he will try to help, bringing with him the strength of the camp. Dutch is coming too, casting some thinly veiled doubt at Arthur in the process.
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete the mission without taking any health items
Follow Dutch and learn that Eagle Flies’s attack on the oil fields was part of Dutch’s plan. There’s a lot of back chatter among the gang, further signs of the fractures in the group. They reach the factory, and find the entire place engulfed in flames and Eagle Flies’s men have been massacred. Dutch splits up from Arthur to create a diversion while Arthur tries to save Eagle Flies before it’s too late.
- GOLD MEDAL: Complete with at least 80% accuracy
- GOLD MEDAL: Get 30 headshots
Ride down the hill towards the camp. Because of the extreme number of headshots that you have to rack up on this mission, you will have to start right away and not pass up any opportunities. Make use of Dead Eye as much as you are able, and be sure to keep your accuracy high.
When you reach the bottom, find cover, then quickly and efficiently continue to kill everything with a head in the area starting with any snipers in the tower. There are usually at least three.
Stay ahead of your own gang members so that you have the chance to rack up kills first before they start thinning the herd.
When you eliminate all of the soldiers in the area, push forward across the bridge.
Just as you cross the bridge, watch for a door to open on the right hand side and two men fighting spill out onto the platform. Quickly line up and kill the soldier to save Eagle Flies.
Eagle Flies’s men are in trouble, and there are still soldiers everywhere. Get into cover and take out the soldiers on the walkway above you as well as a few more on the ground, roughly eight total. Push forward to the factory, getting as many headshots from cover as possible.
In the next section, move towards the train tracks to the north, moving from cover to cover as it becomes safe. Watch out for snipers on the roof of the unfinished house on the west side of the camp. When you’ve taken out enough of the soldiers in the camp, the train will open up to disgorge reinforcements and a gatling gun to lay down heavy fire. Find cover immediately!
When it’s safe, take out the gunner with a headshot from your sniper rifle then begin to eliminate the new soldiers.
Go through the train to the other side of the tracks. As soon as you do, look to your left to see Paytah struggling with a soldier near a train car. Act quickly to save his life.
- GOLD MEDAL: Save Paytah
Keep pushing north, until you spot riders coming down the hill to the north. If you still have any Dead Eye left, now is a perfect opportunity to even the odds with your sniper rifle.
As you round the corner of the factory, you’ll link up with Dutch and the others. Push to the east and help them secure the area. Keep going for headshots while you can.
When all of the soldiers have been killed, meet up with Dutch to explore the interior of the factory, and find out the real goal of Dutch’s plan.
Follow him to the office and help him search. Eventually he will discover the state bonds in the desk. Follow him back down to the first floor.
As you go down the stairs, you hear soldiers arriving and taking position. You and Dutch will have to fight your way out of the building. Continue going for headshots, as this is your last chance for this mission.
Press forward to the east end of the factory, following Dutch as you go. When you reach the exit, Dutch will abandon you to be overrun with soldiers.
Eagle Flies will save you, only to be shot by Colonel Favours for his trouble. You will immediately go into Dead Eye. Shoot Favours before he shoots you.
Get Eagle Flies onto your horse and take him back to the reservation. He is gravely hurt, and only barely manages a few sentences while you ride. Arthur tries to apologize for all the troubles Dutch has brought down upon them, for what it’s worth.
Watch the ending cinematic to complete the mission.
