Help a Brother Out is an Optional Honor Story Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. This Walkthrough shows how to complete this Mission, which is marked as a Stranger Quest on the map initially. Playing it is required for the missable Lending a Hand trophy.
Quest Giver: Brother Dorkins
Region: Saint Denis
Requirements: having finished The Joys of Civilization (early Chapter 4)
Help a Brother Out Starting Location
After the first mission of Chapter 4, Arthur can find a monk in eastern Saint Denis, asking for a donation. Doing so gives a small positive honor boost. The monk tells us that despite it being 1899, there are still slaves around this city, waiting to be sold.
He leads us to the Fence-Shop around the corner.
You could ask the Shopkeeper, but that voids one of the Gold Medal Requirements (and costs time, which is the second Requirement).
Simply interact with the red book on the shelf. You can already see the markings on the floor, indicating this shelf can be moved.
Head down, free the two captives and return to Dorkins.
In the end, you can earn another small honor boost, by declining his offer to keep the money. Let him keep it for the poor.
This concludes the “Help a Brother Out” Mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). For all other Stranger Missions check out the full Red Dead Redemption 2 Stranger Missions Walkthrough.
John says
I freed the slaves and now all the fences are locked in the game. Did anyone else have this happen? DO they ever go back to normal?
Moo says
This happened to me as well and I don’t know what to do.
EB says
After you free the slaves, on the way out of the Fence take the money from the register and give it to the freed slaves for additional honor.
lmrn says
can’t interact with the book without threatening him…useless bugged shit objectives in this game.
hokageyuri says
After you complete this mission, another one appears the next day. With the same priest. He introduces you to a sister and as you talk the sister her crucifix is stolen and you need to get back from the young thief.
Potato says
A few days after that, you can talk to the sister. She asks if you’ll donate food or money for the poor. I don’t think there is a way to decline helping. Either way, you earn a significant honor boost.
David says
There is much more than just those. I met up with the sister 3 more times after that
Ben says
Is this mission available as John ?
Anthony says
I don’t think so
End me says
Is anyone else having trouble with this?? I finished the first mission but now Brothers And Sisters, One And All won’t show up at all. I don’t know why.
Jack says
You need your honor to be pretty high to continue your interactions. If it isn’t, I think you progressed too far into the main story to complete the side missions.
Max Nolan says
Is this mission required for 100%?
